One with a broken nose and one playing backup to a senior citizen. Silly Trojans...this isn't the Pac-1 :hihi: If Bush doesn't get moving this year, we could have a USC Heisman jinx trifecta! ...and yet some still believe the Heisman actually means something. :dis:
you can officially tattoo BUST on Alex Smith's forehead too. Beat out by J.T. O'Sullivan? Sounds like a cheap Bennigan's chain knock off. Happy Hour at J.T. O'Sullivans every day from 4-7
It does mean something. It means you are the top College Football player in the world in that year. And each of those players were that the years they won the award.
:hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi: That wacky weed makes you funny! It goes to the best (uh...most popular) QB or RB in the nation. It's media driven and often selected based on regional bias. Defensive players need not apply! (exception Charles Woodson and that wasn't based solely on his defensive ability but accounted for his receiving and punt returns) He beat out Peyton Manning who was better than most of the QBs who have won the award.
you can put a billion :hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi:'s and I still don't get why the hate for the Heisman. General conception in football is that skill players win games. You may think that is untrue. I may think that is untrue. That is just how it is. The NFL MVP is the same thing. Just because you don't like the award, don't mean it doesn't "mean anything". If an LSU player won it this year, we would all be ecstatic, wouldn't we? The award is based on regional bias. Isn't your hatred for USC right now regional bias?
Clair, you're right on target here. The Heisman Trophy awards the best college football player each year. Some of these young men PEAK in college and then are seldom heard from again other than to be bashed for not succeeding in the pro ranks. (see Sullivan, Pat, Auburn) That doesn't mean a thing - they were recognized for their past accomplishments - not for what they MIGHT do in the future. If an LSU player won we'd be doing d!ck stands! (well, some of you younger fellas would, anyway. And maybe SabanFan, too.) Many NFL MVPs peaked in the NFL, not in college. A very few (though none come to mind at present) may have reached the individual pinnacle in both arenas. Give credit where it is due, right? ldskule:
