We had this tucked away in that Astros thread so I thought it deserved it's own Holliday in 2007 (his last full season healthy in Colorado): .340, 120 runs, 36 homers, 137 RBIs, .607 SLG With Oakland this season (projected to a full season) .286, 86 runs, 18 homers, 89 RBIs, .454 SLG He is going from one difficult hitters ballpark to another, so don't look for the SLG pct to go up much. Notice the BA suffered tremendously as well away from Colorado, where outfielders play with the backs up against the wall. Literally. Oakland struck it rich with 3 top line prospects with one super stud 3B, Brett Wallace.
ludwick was a legit mvp player last year before injury. clearly a 30+ hr guy. rasmus is developing nicely. could be a 30 hr guy. ankiel is done on that team, i suppose. time to trade him for a bag of chips.
i always favor trading for the star. but i must admit when i heard who they gave up it could be a terrible deal for the cards if they only rent holliday for a year. and he signs with boston next year when bay doesnt re-sign or anyone else. brett wallace is likely to be a future star. #2 prospect in their system along with mortenson #6 prospect. they better retain holliday or win it all this year. oakland may come out well ahead in the end.
I will agree 100% with you here. The retention is the key to the trade. I think if they can get 3 or more years out of him, it is a good deal.
I always thought Busch was more of neutral park not really favoring hitters or pitchers. but I just looked it up,: Oakland is a better hitters park in every extra base hit category. never would have guessed that one. He's 2 for 3 so far (due up shortly) and has a stolen base tonight P.S. Lugo just tripled. Go figure. Jackass is prolly gonna start performing like a big leaguer now that he's been shipped outta town.
