LSU vs. Penn State is on ESPN Classic right now.

Why is this a classic? Both teams played like crap...the field and stadium were/are the WORST in the country...the game was filled with bad decisions and missed opportunities, etc...

I guess the names of the schools were the reason this is on. Watching Coleman drop a pick-6 and the offense looking horrible was enough for me to change the station.

I love Orlando but of all the bowl games I've been to the two Capital One games were the worst. The stadium, surrounding area, transportation, field, etc. is absolutely horrible.

I hope the SEC complained and we get immediate results. If not, we need to find another bowl to replace them regardless of the amount of money they pay. They're lucky no player bwas seriously injured in the game. Too bad for the kid that blew out his knee in the other bowl game played there.

As I remember the Cap One Bowl people already had plans to lay artificial turf prior to that game, but it shamed them into speeding things up. The bowl committee already has to compete with the Cotton Bowl and the new Cowboys Stadium. It didn't help their cause that two elite programs were forced to play on national TV in some of the most embarrassing field conditions ever seen in FBS football.

I remember reading a Penn State article talking about a previous appearance in the Cap One Bowl. John Cappeletti was quoted as saying the thing he remembered most about the game was the lousy field conditions. It's been that way a long time.

i said the same thing after the game. however, that would depend on slive doing the right thing and overlooking the money in the interest of player's safety. yeah right. like that would ever happen.

I'm pretty sure they didn't have the Capital One Bowl when John Cappelltti played. Maybe it was played on the same field, but called something else because they didn't have corporate sponsors for Bowl games names back in those days.

Tangerine Bowl begat Florida Citrus Bowl who sold out the name to Capital One.

    What's in your wallet?

I believe it used to be the Tangerine Bowl. Charlie Mac became the bowl's director after LSU fired him.

which is exactly what the bowl committees ask prospective sponsors.
