I think Canada is better than you’re giving him credit for and had little to work with. It seems like Eaux couldnt envision what Canada was selling, but I look for Canada to do big things in the future. With the shifts he is helping his offense read defenses and making them more sound. With better talent I think Canada destroys Saban. Dude’s innovative, one-of-a-kind. I swear I’ve seen people borrow some of what he’s been doing.
Channel 2 seems to think its a done deal that Ensminger will be promoted. CEO did say that he will hire someone with a "wealth of experience".
Not sure about Canada but Aranda's contract stated that if he left to take a job within 500 miles of Baton Rouge he would owe a lot more than if he took a job outside that radius.
So why was watching Miles 2015 offense like getting a root canal and Oeaux's interim offense made it fun to watch again?
I would have liked to see Matt with a good line and stocked receiving corps at the controls of this offense, but it didn't happen. Still, I expected better results. Someone mentioned beating Auburn. One touchdown was a fourth down give to a wideout, and the clincher was a punt return score. We didn't light them up offensively. I think Canada can be a very good coordinator. I posted a while back he'd gone through a lot of jobs very quickly though. And the guy at NC State brought him from Northern Illinois then fired him after like five years together. That was alarming. He seems aggressively pursuing advancement, and I kinda like that but those types can also be incendiary to deal with. In the end, he's just Matt Canada. He's not done anything to be flipping out over keeping or losing him. Also, like it or not the boss controls the team. Kiffin did what Saban said. Maybe O hadn't earned that, but he was given that by Alleva. I suspect the rift is that Canada went to Joe behind Os back and told him he's a problem. Hence the meeting of the minds and O being told to not meddle. If you get neutered like that as the boss of the team that can cripple everything beneath you and undermine the whole structure. In the end, if you can't do shifts against Troy and you're held scoreless as a result, I ain't losing sleep over letting you go. Adjust your offense and beat them down. Those are qualities any coach worth 1.5 million should have in spades, and by the results of that game Matt didn't have the offense focused and ready to play. Kiffin did whatever Saban said. And Saban isn't an offensive genius, but sometimes you gotta rein in the offensive wizards like a Sean Payton or Kiffin. They can get too cute sometimes without an editor. .
You & a lot of MSG board folk bought into Scott Rabalais' "Fan Fatigue" BS. There was no joy for most LSU Fans watching unqualified Finch call boneheaded play after bonehead play. 3 inches kick a FG...sheesh
See what you described sounds more West Coast Bill Walsh style to me. And I’ll be honest, that’s the type of offense I always wanted to see at LSU. But then I sit back and watch teams that beat Alabama and the only team I’ve seen beat them without a stellar qb was us last decade and Auburn. But in those Auburn games Auburn’s qbs had stellar games. I wouldn’t mind seeing what LSU could do in a spread offense with a mobile qb. What we have seen was Miles try to fit that mobile qb into that I formation 2 tight sets, which I guess is kind of innovative but we just never had the qb that could make that transition. I don’t know man, it really doesn’t matter what I want, and it really doesn’t matter what LSU runs as long as the w’s pile up. And I see a league where the top dog ain’t slipping, even in a down year defensively (by their standards) they are still pretty dominant and teams around us are upgrading. Well at least one other. It’s yet to be seen what Florida and Mississippi State will do with their new coaches. I think A&M will be a contender in a few seasons. Arkansas, who knows, Chad Morris will bring offense though. Ole Miss is gonna have a hard time coming back from their problems and Auburn is one of those teams that will always be a threat at least for us in even years. I give O a lot of shit but I really hope the guy succeeds even though I can’t see it. I mean what would be a better story? A home grown native bringing LSU back to promised land. How could anyone not want that?
