Going 9-4 is probably manageble if so ed will be ok I think. I don't think there's an appetite for another buyout
Looks like its done: http://www.theadvocate.com/baton_ro..._1bb380da-f1be-11e7-a4c5-57e76cafdc1d.html?33
It will be interesting to see how the replacement selection evolves. I wonder if anyone has told O his future at LSU depends on it.
This statement below from O says it all for me. I myself never warmed up to Canada's offense left out the recievers and I think would discourage QB's with NFL ambitions to sign with LSU. The statement; “We have a lot of talent coming up on offense,” Orgeron said. “We want to put our players in the best possible position to succeed which means improving our vertical passing game and developing our quarterbacks and wide receivers to be at their absolute best.”
Are they paying him in Canadian money? Canada left $1.3 million on the table. That's an amount worth fighting for in court if it came down to it. Makes me think Canada has something he wouldn't want to come out in public that would hurt his chances of getting another good job.
whole situation is a bit weird. if LSU had anything serious on him, he has no leverage and LSU can fire him for cause and not owe him anything. if LSU has nothing on him, then he has no reason to settle and they would owe him $3.3mil. but they instead meet awful close to the middle ground. so who the fuck knows what the hell is going on. maybe it really and truly is just a marriage that is not salvageable and neither side is really “at fault”.
Don't get confused just because Les loved fullbacks, tight ends, and the power I that he was pro style. He wasn't. Pro style is quick hitting timing routes like slants and outs with heavy emphasis to throwing to the backs and tight ends down the seam. When is the last time we did any of that under Les? The last guy to go over the middle as a receiver was Jarvis and we've never used tight ends and fbs as anything but glorified linemen. We got a slew of talented receivers but most transferred out, but still this season was a disappointment to me offensively. I'm shocked no one has brought up that we had a game where no wide receiver caught a pass this year. Imagine if anyone other than Canada had done that? Running your wide receivers can be effective, but eventually it's like Saban coached his defenders. When they shift simplydon't move. It's all window dressing. I don't think it would take many years of study for the UGA, Bama, Auburn, and Florida defenses to catch on and adapt. . Canada claimed he could run any style offense for any style players, but it seemed if he couldn't do his shifts and jet sweeps he was ineffective. No one else found that troubling? Hard to recruit qbs and receivers when they're basically running it not catching it. By the way, if you want modern spread passing centric offenses don't watch the national title game against Georgia and Alabama. . They are not terribly far off from being teams LSU could field in short order.
Wasn't Canada limited in what jobs he could take? This buyout probably releases him from any limitations...
