Les averaged 10 wins a season and he was run out. 8-5 was the worst he ever did. I seem to recall just about everyone being on board with ending his assignment. So why is it that if Orgeron gets to 10 wins it’s remarkable? I said the same thing when Les was the coach. Here’s the thing, when Les was getting his 10 wins, there was always some boneheaded moment. Looking back on this season do you still think LSU should have lost to MSST and Troy? I think those games qualify for boneheaded. You can call me negative or what’ve I really don’t care, I don’t see an upgrade at head coach from what we had to now. I just don’t. Could I be wrong, of course, time will tell though.
That's the thing with me. I wasn't thrilled with the O hire, but unlike a lot of LSU fans, I'm willing to give him some time to show what he can do. In that respect 10-3 or 9-4 isn't the end of the world, especially considering a new offensive system and the number of freshmen that had to step up due to injury and attrition. I had my torch and pitchfork out after the Troy loss but he turned it around so he deserves some credit for that. Hes here for at least another 2 years. If the trajectory is down by then, I'll support a coaching change. Until then, all the bitching about CEO being our coach is counter productive and a waste of time.
I am willing to give Orgeron a chance. I don't want what's bad for LSU. But I believe he's making a bad move by running off Canada by not giving him a chance. He better make an upgrade hire and win...That's what I meant by him putting pressure on himself. It's not good for him to add LSU to his long list of short coaching stays. Remember he was a 3rd choice, face saving hire because of no coaching search after Miles was fired. He's lucky he got the job in the first place.
Good comments... That's what I'm thinking about Canada. O is not giving him a chance. It seems he should get a fair chance. He shouldn't get fired for 3 million dollars because he has a personality clash. It may be that Orgeron is afraid he's going to have a great year as OC and it'll be hard to get rid of him after that.
Or the reason he’s getting yanked isn’t simply because Canada refuses to rub his belly. Can’t that be considered as a possibility?
But we won against the warchickens when we “should have lost”. Also Many wrote this team off for dead after the Troy loss. Yet we have a New Year’s Day bowl. All relative and some of us need to come away from the cliff.
Thank you. This is almost exactly where I am sitting. Give the guy some time. We had a pretty damn good recruiting class not the flashy recruiting class but we filled significant needs and I think it will pay off. Yes he needs to make a solid hire with regard to the OC but like what he did with the oline hire. We haven’t missed a step with regard recruiting. I do believe it will also pay dividends for our o line play as well.
