I think its time for the switch. Not 100%, I'd say start Brennan and build about 3 drives into the game with Etling, in order to coach up Brennan in-game. And have those appearances scripted into the game plan, not just hand it to Brennan until he screws up. Mistakes are inevitable at this level, and part of maturing as a QB is to learn to play through the mistakes.
I would like to see them both play in each quarter. Give Brennan the experience, show Etling he is also valued and keep the opponent wondering what is going to happen next
That might be too much....you're almost talking about alternating possessions in that case. Doesn't allow for continuity
Charlie Mac used to give second qb the third series. Regardless, of field position score etc. Screw it. You’re up, son.
Until we can develop a consistent 8 - 10 yard passing game, whether the fault of the OC or QB, we may be good, but will never be great. We have to get away from passes behind the line of scrimmage. The short, complete pass eliminates the need to run on first. I am not the coach, but really believe we would be much better. Did we try the shovel pass after the first time? Did we run a draw play?
Not exactly what I meant but let Brennan in alternatively for a few series. Maybe is gets stretched over 2 quarters but I think they both should get some time I guess I was trying to say
My point as well, but I want to see Brennan get the majority of the snaps. He needs the experience heading into the spring.
I guess too I was thinking let Brennan get some actual game management experience as well as mop up duty
