Man Oh Man did the Aztecs ever need a center and lucky enough Garrett Green was available and wanted to come here. I have not seen Garrett play live and very little on video clips. Can Someone (or everyone) give me a breakdown on his game? I don't care if it is negative or positive, i just want to know what he can do and not do on the court. Green comes to San Diego State in a very good position. He is the only center on the team (we are waiting for word from the NCAA on a 6th year for lst years backup center 6-11 Brian Carlwell) and is more than likely gong to get plenty of minutes. He joins a team real heavy with guards who can score and decent players at the 3 and the four spots. I guess one key area I would like to know about is Greens rebounding. If we have one glaring weakness right now it would be our rebounding. It should be good, but we need one more board guy. Hopefully Green is that guy. Can he pass? Can he run the floor? Can he play D? Is he a hustle player? Is he a team player? Can he shoot the 15 footer? Does he have a low post game for a center? What is the best thing about his game and what is the worst thing abut his game? Thanks in advance for any information you can give me.
Here's a short thread from when he annouced he was leaving. http://forums.tigerfan.com/tigers-den/105693-garrett-green-leaving-lsu.html?highlight=garrett+green
He sounds a lot like our other center we are waiting on the NCAA to make a decision. He is 6-11 300, but doesn't finish around the basket well either. He does have some low post moves though. Enough to worry the defender. I see a two headed monster at center if Carlwell comes back. 20 minutes for Green and 20 for Carlwell. Six boards a game for Green in 18 minutes. That isn't bad at all. Two things caught my eye on your comments. Big guys thrive in Steve Fishers offensive game plan if they are athletic enough to run the floor. Also a passing big man is very important in the Fisher system.
Garret is a guy who played big for us a number of times. He plays ok D, can score at times, but a lot of times he plays soft. He did improve every year he was here, and increased his role on the team.
Damn, Brian Carlwell our 6-11 300 pound center who was waiting for the NCAA to decide on a 6th year of eligibility was denied by the NCAA. Surpised me. Now a little more importance on Green for this year. I hope he is up to it. All he has to do is rebound and pass (and of course play D).
