We can't fill the PMAC for a top ten showdown (TX A&M). It takes a big name UCONN, Florida. FOOTBAW fills it for every game (for the most part)
Go back to the 90s in football and you'll see that's not true. Baseball attendance dropped off big time the last few years, as well. Fans aren't stupid. They aren't going to fully support any program that they know isn't going anywhere. I posted a link in another thread about the PMAC attendance. 12-13,000 was the norm under Brown when we were winning.
Brady is very well payed for what he brings to the table. You mean we are just a practice facility away from being a quality team? Doesn't seem to be hurting the womens team any. Also when I was at LSU we played pickup games in the basement of the PMAC all the time, never saw any teams waiting in line to use it. LSU has upgraded many facilities shared by all the sports teams as well as the academic center you're going to have to come up with a better excuse than that.
It was a major sport when Dale Brown was the coach it did not become a minor sport until Brady made it so.
So Skip wasn't hired as the baseball coach and winning championships until after Dale retired? LSU basketball wasn't punished after and because of the things that Dale allegedly did? I bet Brady made the Miami Dolphins a minor program and caused Saban to go to Alabama, too.
So was Hallman and DiNardo. What's your point? A commitment means committed to winning. It's not just about facilities, even though that is important to attract recruits. It takes money to run a top notch program. Just look at what happened when Emmert made a commitment to the football program. He was willing to pay top dollar for a coach and pour money into the facilities. We fired a baseball coach that made 2 CWS appearances in 5 years. It was done b/c we are committed to winning in baseball. We are finally getting a new baseball facility. LSU baseball has one of the largest budgets in the country. You are fooling yourself if you don't think money and facilities are important to having a winning program. Until LSU changes its attitude toward basketball, there is no need to fire an average coach.
Basketball went to the final four last year. This season was more hyped than ever....and we can't fill the PMAC...
You do realize that both of those were fired for incompetence right? I think you just made my point. Never said that money and facilities were not important I just don't believe that we don't have quality facilities. There are a ton more facilities used by basketball players other than a practice court and sharing a practice court is the only thing you pointed out facility wise. And who said Brady was an average coach.:hihi: :hihi:
