This is a must read... From what I'm seeing, all over the internet, the word is out...It's the SEC and then there's everyone else. http://weisnd.blogspot.com/2008/09/can-we-ever-be-lsu.html
It has taken some a long time to realize or admit that the SEC is the top conference in the country. Even so, many in the media will not risk losing the left half of the country and will jump at any opportunity to knock the SEC or overrate the Pac-1. The media won't risk alienating 30 million people in California and also needs to fabricate a tough schedule for USC, so they'll continue to make believe the Pac-1 is worth a damn. Give the SEC Champion the BCS trophy this year and let USC and Ohio State go play in that bowl with the nice parade. :hihi: (or should I say...the nice parade that also plays a little football game?)
You forgot about this part of the blog: Maybe I'm a little sensitive about it, but that sounds a bit snotty to me. Maybe they're not all rocket scientists, but all of our guys CAN read, can't they? They are college students.... I'm not sure this fella was being all sweetness about LSU.
A little over the top with the "LSU has retards on their team who are desparate to make it to the NFL" slant LSU has a great group of really good kids. Any riff-raff is quickly dismissed by Miles and Co. Do we have a few that are a bit challenged when it comes to their studies? Sure. But it's not a big number, I can grant you that.
Baby steps michael...baby steps. First we convince them that we're better at football than they are, then we'll focus on the academics. I did leave that paragraph out on purpose...I was trying to focus on the positives. A couple of guys set him straight in the comments however...:thumb:
This guy obviously 'gets it' that the SEC is way better than his Flaming Irish. He made it clear that we have better athletes on both sides of the ball. For that I say, "Thanks. We've been trying to tell you that." As for the comments about being stupid, disadvantaged, or Samoan, I say "Really? Did you have to go for the cheap shot there?" Sounds to me like someone's doing a bit too much oversimplifying there. Our players don't play well because they're poor or because they need football. They are the finest athletes in the country. And as for his precious top 5 recruiting classes, well... we see how that has worked out so far. Geaux Tigers!
Quote: All I can think about was going out on Bourbon Street after the Sugar Bowl, and EVERY SINGLE GUY on LSU's team had the team issue clothes on out at the bars. EVERY GUY. Why?? I have no idea, but maybe it's because it's the only clothes they have. Our guys were wearing button downs, khakis, nice shoes. It's a great image for our team obviously, but our guys don't need football to dominate every part of their lives. Why?? I'll tell you why...because our team had just beaten the living $hitttt out of ND about as bad as any team had ever done. Of course they would be wearing their LSU gear. They were the SUGAR BOWL CHAMPS! Notre Dame players on the other hand were just trying to blend in with the rest of the crowd so nobody would recognize them as players that were on a sorry team that just got embarrassed on national television. Did this guy think they were gonna be decked out in their ND gear??? Trust me, they would have been had they won. And ND people are supposed to be the smart ones? Geez, it ain't rocket science is it?
I'd respond to this, but I can't read...cuz I is frum da by-you here's a fun fact: 50% of midwesterners think LSU is in new orleans
60% of the time it works, every time. Speaking of fun facts: Survey of 510 people interviewed... Among the findings: * One-third of respondents couldn’t pinpoint Louisiana on a map and 48 percent were unable to locate Mississippi. * Six in 10 could not find Iraq on a map of the Middle East. * While the outsourcing of jobs to India has been a major U.S. business story, 47 percent could not find the Indian subcontinent on a map of Asia. * While Israeli-Palestinian strife has been in the news for the entire lives of the respondents, 75 percent were unable to locate Israel on a map of the Middle East. * Nearly three-quarters incorrectly named English as the most widely spoken native language. * Six in 10 did not know the border between North and South Korea is the most heavily fortified in the world. Thirty percent thought the most heavily fortified border was between the United States and Mexico. Amazing
