yeah i agree, put a winning product on the court year in and year out and the masses will come. LSU basketball is split personalities and always has been, 1 year they are good, next they suck, next year they are better, next year they suck, so on and so forth.

That's the problem. You have to have sustained success. An SEC championship or Sweet 16 every once in a while is ok, but you have to build a culture of winning. I think we have the right coach to do it, but there will be growing pains. Sure Brady won a couple of championships and had a few decent tournament runs, but he had a LOSING record in the SEC over his career at LSU. You can't build any momentum that way.

For once we agree. While LSU has had some recent success, its never been consistent. LSU will have to be consistent at winning in order to build up the fan base. La doesnt produce the basketball talent that it does in football but there is still a lot of talent in the state. It starts by keeping that talent in state. Big Baby and Tyrus lead us to the Final Four, both are instate talents. LSU will occasionally bring big time out of state talent but we must keep the top instate kids here since were arent a traditional power to expect top out of state talent to want to come to LSU.

Once you show some consistency then out of state kids will want to come to a winning program. Its the same thing the football program has done. Although the LSU football program alwasy could draw some out of state talent because there was some tradition here.

anyone have a good reason why, in an SEC championship season, LSU had the same or less revenues as:

UGA--bad program, in the middle of a huge program dip and abysmal season.
    USC--bad program, average season
    Auburn--bad program, average season
Bama--in the middle of a program dip, bad season

I would like to see revenue per ticket. To me that would be a clearer indication of where we are. Our ticket prices are low. Premium seats are $400 for a season. That may bea driver for poor revenues.

Average attendance was around 8,500 last year. I doubt that was 11th in the SEC. I'm sure paid attendance was higher.

Nope, they'll never make a Final Four, in our lifetime, ever. Nor will they ever have 3 NBA Top 50 selections pass through the school.

    Our basketball program is doomed.

    /sarcasm

Of course it can be "good", it has been before and it will be again. Whether it will ever be an elite SEC program (of which there is only one), I don't think so, but if Florida can win a NT or two in basketball I don't see why we wouldn't be able to either.

Supa i think that is the average of tickets sold, not attendance. Alleva was saying its not the revenue its the amount of people that just don't show after tickets have been purchased, something like 4401 people that buy tickets don't show up.
