I can see Kelly putting on game tape watching Max drop back and immediately screaming at screen ‘Throw the fucking ball!’
Howard will be his guy. He was pushing hard to pull him to South Bend. The question is, how quickly will the transition take place? Having said that, maybe bringing back Myles would not be a bad thing. Agree with those saying Max regressed, but have to wonder how much of that was him, how much of that was coaching, and how much was attrition (loss of top receiver targets and continuous shuffling of line due to injuries)? If he's already peaked, Brennan could be a good one year option and then toss the keys to Howard in 2023.
Max did not build on the potential we saw last year. But he seemed to regress during the games this year. First halves he didn't hold the ball as long as in the second half. Maybe it was coaching or adjustments the other team made. But the result was hard to watch. Of course, he did throw some beautiful balls in the 4th quarter against the Aggies too. Hopeful, BK will sort out our QB room.
Personally, I think Brennan is ready for a new start at a new school, but I could see Ricks possibly coming back, especially if we can bring in Freeman as DC.
IF Myles turns out to be fragile? He's two for two the past two years on season-ending injuries...with the most recent one not during a game. Let him go.
