Can a sloppy SEC team make it?

Or, perhaps an alternate title... I thought style points weren't supposed to matter...

Ok, there's a scattershot of this sentiment all over the board tonight, but I thought I'd start a new thread on this issue. It's apparent now, with a BC loss, the field is starting to clear. But, LSU struggles today in an emotional but honestly ugly win against #17.

Oregon looks more dominant and executes well against #5 and undefeated ASU. Now I know that it's the Pac-10 (bla bla bla), but I just feel like voters are going to down grade us. We aren't looking good. Looking sloppy. QB is throwing interceptions. Once vaulted d is not looking invincible.

Obviously, this is an important night of voting and BCS scores will tell us more tomorrow. But, do people out there just feel like a sloppy SEC team, by virtue of just playing in the SEC, deserves to be in the NC? Is our strength of schedule really going carry the day?

I hate to say it, but style points are mattering right now (and we're not looking all too impressive). That and who our opponents are beating. Unfortunately voter bias is going to kill us after today...

Before folks start flaming... yes, a win is a win and I'm happy with a win. I'm also happy with winning close tough games for character. But, I just can't help but feel that with more subjective voting being more important these days, that the SEC's hurting itself again with all of the close ugly wins.

Our defense was fine -- it was the interceptions that held the game from being a shutout.

Also -- assuming we win out and Arkansas is ranked when we play them.. win the SEC and play for the NC. That's 10 or so teams on our schedule that are ranked/were ranked at one time. (Alot to assume.)

Our strength of schedule is the real deal.

i understand exactly what you are saying and with some of the media members you can tell they are thinking that oregon with their style points is playing better than we are.

however, there are also members of the media who are thinking of it as lsu vs oregon or lsu vs anybody. true we have been sloppy and gone to the wire with several good teams... but is there a team out there that we wouldn't go the wire with? is there a team that would trounce us? and I think the resounding answer is no.... nobody can say oregon would for sure defeat us and will keep us ahead of oregon simple based on current rank.

i honestly think outside of the SEC none of these other teams stand a chance against us. especially in the dome. i think people respect that as well. i think people are confident that if they put us in the NC game that we WILL win.

Everybody and their grandmother knows how difficult it is to play an SEC road game (Ask Bama and Florida about playing what is currently a 3-7 Ole Miss team).

Our schedule speaks for itself and the wins are too impressive to pass up regarding LSU.

LSU will be #2 in the human polls and therefore the BCS tomorrow.
