Agree completely and for five or more years Ensminger could help to make LSU a desired school for QB recruits.
No problems with Ed running Canada out of town, he knows more than we do and we know LSU was dead LAST behind teams like ARKANSAS and TENN in the red zone offensive cats. Don't know of anyone who would want him to stay, we were in the middle of the SEC in every major category of offense this year? Also in the Auburn comeback, Canada down 20-0 on the goal line needed Ed to use his balls and go for it to get in the end zone. That isn't talked about much but that was balls on Ed there letting Canada run a jet sweep. If Ed wants him to go he is the head man. Ed is in charge, he will get a suitable replacement.
Also Ed is the head recruiter not Canada whatever you think. He had Brennan before Canada was ever named.
Yes and No too... Coach O lost Brennan late in the recruiting process and Canada saved the day. On top of that, I think Brennan was primarily recruited by the "old regime."
No sir, he only needed assurances from Ed late that since they started recruiting Lowell, when he dropped his commit, he could compete for starting job. Ed told him he could and he recommitted per Brennan family, nothing to do with Canada. Also, Miles wasn't in on Brennan, he was in on Lowell.
I seem to remember that he slept at work when he was interim OC. I imagine he’d bust tail and he may not like taking that much on.
Rice visits Tiger Stadium next year. Interesting. Don't think Canada will get a gig, though. The impact on the offense was not significant enough to really impress. Another year and marked improvement could do him a world of good in pursuit of a head job.
My memory sure ain't that good and I don't have time to research, but I seem to remember O talking about how important dual-treat was AND actively going after another top dual-threat QB who LSU never got --- it was then that Brennan de-committed for which O caught a lot of grief from this board. Soon after the Brennan de-commitment, Canada was hired, visited the Brennan family and Brennan recommitted.
