I think most people are happy to have Cam here and are likewise confident in his ability to run an offense. But after watching the same offense under multiple coordinators, history has shown that Miles exerts far too much influence on the offensive playcalling. I'm cautiously optimistic about Miles allowing Cam to run the show but I need to see it myself before getting too excited.
That's the point Dad. I believe Cam will be a significant difference and we'll see it on the field. I'm just tired of talking about it and want to see it happen.
Although you will likely ignore this again, Crowton and Stud ran different plays out of different formations. Don't you remember how Crowton rotated entirely different packages and personnel groups for just about every play, and how the plays themselves were so complicated they couldn't get out of their own way? When Stud took over, didn't it get a lot simpler...almost to the point of stupidity? How can anyone say they looked the same, other than the fact that neither approach was effective? C'mon Brett...
I think what he is saying is the end result was basically the same because of the lack of a real quarterback.
I'm still confused about what this "tight end" is everyone keeps talking about. That 3rd tackle is clearly an ineligible receiver.
WTF are you talking about? I addressed the last thing you addressed me about here. Closing out Games Emphasis of Fall Practice The only one ignoring anything is you my man. The various coordinators and formations don't mean jackshit when Les is telling his OC over the headset what he wants run in critical situations and he's mentioned as much. Is it his right as head coach? Sure, but you get the offense we've had over the past 6 years. I'm happy that you seem to be the local president of the Les Miles fan club but you've failed in convincing anyone that LSU's offense under Les Miles control is anything but shit. I showed you the facts as they relate to LSU's poor offensive production and it is you who ignored it. You're going to believe what you want to believe and I really don't have the time or care enough to continue to debate it with you.
In all fairness, I don't know if any HC could've made chicken salad out of the chicken shit we've had at QB since 2008, and that's not necessarily a knock on Lee and Jefferson. I don't know how many people truly understand how appalling Crowton's track record with QBs is, Rattay being the exception. This is a guy who singlehandedly ruined the ACC Freshman of the Year inside of one season, after which he transferred. After 3 years I don't know if anyone could've salvaged our situation. If Les really wants to be the one calling the shots, then he could've hired a young no-name OC he can fully control on the cheap instead of hiring a top-flight coach and paying him $1 million/year on average. That's a hell of a lot of money to pay a guy to be a figurehead.
Remember this quote from Cam.... This is true, you don't have that much time to relay a play to the QB, thats football. Cam will be in the press box, in the NFL they get pictures/shots of formations when a play/formation is called. Thats why most OC and DC in the pros are on the sidelines. I've been around OC while they are calling plays, you have to be quick, many times you have to be thinking for your next play. Many OC's set up/map their first 20-25 plays of a game, from there, they feed off from those. One DC I know will take the top 15-20 run plays on offense and the top 15-20 pass plays. He figures if he can stop those he has a shot to win the game. OC's will go back to those plays, their comfort zone. When its late in the game, they will call those plays, when times running down, its too easy to call those. Most will remember when Les had Joe Robinson at his side, the clock management problems were at a minimum. Cam is that kind of clock manager, Jimbo was. To think the head coach at LSU before Les didn't control Jimbo, when the OC is told to run clock, you run clock. It caught us one time real good. The only game Eli Manning beat LSU (2001) comes to mind. I know, I've been pounding this Cam drum more than most. I just hear what other coaches are saying, outside of La. Many have taken notice of the hire. I just think this is a major hire, I saw the same thing when Chief was hired. Cam will earn his money, Mett gets the chance to earn his this year also. How high he gets drafted will depend on what he does on the field this year. He has a QB/OC coach that can get him to the next level. Cam pushes the little things, this has been missing with Mett. Pro teams and the iPad......Maybe coaches can use the iPad to call plays for them... http://www.nfl.com/qs/ipadplaybook/index.jsp I know, its too long till Dallas, but we're getting there. GEAUX TIGERS......Countdown..... Sorry, long-winded again........
