We haven't had a real QB/OC Coach since 2006. If you get time, look at practice, theres film on it. Then go back at the games the last few years. LSU hasn't been hard to defend, not much imagination. We are now running the full route tree, going down field, spreading out the defense, creating mismatches. Look at what Cam did in the NFL, look at who he studied with, look at who he gets involved in his formations. Want to know how good a coach is, ask other coaches. I was talking with a coach who made a teaching session with Cam, the guy knows offense. The best part about his offense, he spreads the ball around, look at last year. The bama game, 8 different guys had receptions, in that game Mett threw for around 300 yds. and made all the throws. Look at the old mrs. game, the leading receiver was the TE (Dickson) 5 catches for 69 yds, then he was lost in the offense again the rest of the year. We had some good games at times, but many times lacking. We also had injuries that took a toll. I did think the staff did one of the better overall coaching jobs, keeping this team on track.
Ok, now you're too easy with this.........I just see this season a little different than most, guess its from spending too much time on this.
I think your insight gives us hope. We have all heard this same song and dance for so long now(not from you, just from the "machine") we don't expect much. Whole basket full of OC's have run through that joint and it looked the same from #1 to the present. Funny, only one thing has been a constant through it all. I hear what you are saying, I want to believe it, but I'm going to have to see it first.
Mett coming along just fine...... http://theadvocate.com/home/6704508-125/lsus-zach-mettenberger-hopes-to
I was talking with an NFL draft guy about Chase Clement, he said many teams liked him, but we never threw to him. The last time we had a TE drafted, 2008 in the 7th round. Before that 2002 Robert Royal. I'll say this again, Cam will use the TE fully. If you look at the Ravens last year, their longest reception was for 61 yards, it was to the TE Pitta. Pitta finished third on the team in reception yards, 2nd on the team in TD receptions. FYI, Pitta is 6'4" 245#'s. DeSean Smith is 6'4" 241#. Having see DeSean play, hes one of the better TE's to come out of the state of La in years. He can stretch the field like not many can. Travis Dickson is another one that has great hands and blocks well. Stokes and Gordon also come into play. Back on Cam and TE's, the two he used last year was Pitta and Dickson (He's 6'4" 255 #'s), they totaled 924 yds receiving, they averaged 11 and 10.7 ypc. respectively.
