Jake Clise QB from Baltimore, Md. At the end of the tape, he does a little punting... http://www.hudl.com/athlete/647584/jake-clise http://www.lsusports.net/ViewArticl...DB_OEM_ID=5200&ATCLID=208315461&Q_SEASON=2013 A little more info...
He's right there from the Baltimore area, so Cam should know him better than anyone outside of the Baltimore area His high school coach says: “He’s a very smart kid that works his tail off. He’s also very accurate with a strong arm and is really a dual-threat, since he can both throw and run the ball" Clise describes himself as “a pass-first quarterback that’s not afraid to run the ball." Looks like he got Lacrosse offers to what i think are powerhouse lacrosse programs: Virginia, North Carolina and Duke In the 2010 state lacrosse championship, Clise (a freshman at the time) led his team to victory, scoring 4 goals in his team's 7-6 victory, "including an acrobatic, off-hand shot while falling down" Worst case, he'll make an outstanding scout team QB to prepare our D...best case, he's the next Johnny Manziel LSU Freshman Jake Clise
Nope, I don't see one. Remember this, everything's a verbal till you sign. I don't have a problem here Debbie. Many kids let a coach know when giving a verbal. I know of one that gave a verbal to LSU-E, hoping for a Football Scholarship over baseball.
The SEC rules state that programs can only sign 25 players between Dec. 1 and May 31 (per this article and this one) i assume we signed Clise after May 31 plus, you can count early enrollees as part of the previous year's class. Since we only signed 23 in 2012, at least two of our early enrollees didn't count toward the 25 for 2013 (not to mention however many enrollees from 2012 counted back to 2011 and so on... i don't keep up with it)
I see a kid that didn't get any football scholarship offers and is settling for lacrosse. He'll be a scout team guy...prolly never see a full scholly, unless something weird happens ala Andrew Hatch...God forbid. PLEASE, God forbid.
think about Matt Mauck. did anybody other than Saban want Matt Mauck as a QB when Saban gave him an offer to Michigan State out of high school? he was a great high school baseball player, but he wasn't very productive as a high school QB: as a senior he completed 59 of 117 passes (50.4%) for 940 yards, 12 TDs and ran for 625 yards (8.2 avg), 9 TDs. in his three years as a high school QB he averaged per season: 784 yards passing (51.7% completion pct), 9 TD plus 706.7 yards rushing, 9 TDs a Aug 26, 2002 report by Scout.com said that Mauck was a "a nice sized pocket passer with a decent amount of upside if he learns to become a passer." this is how Mauck did his first two years at LSU: 2001 RS FS --18 of 41 (43.9%), 224 yards, 0 TD, 2 INT 2002 RS SO --63 of 130 (48.5%), 782 yards, 9 TD, 2 INT a preseason 2003 preview of LSU by Sports Illustrated wrote: "An opposing coach's view of the Tigers: 'Quarterback Matt Mauck is poised and mature, but I'm not sure he's got the arm needed to make plays. He's got the feet, though, and is more of a runner than Rohan Davey was'" then in 2003, Mauck went 229 of 358 (64.0%) for 2,825 yards, 28 TD, 14 INT even Mauck became better than he thought he could: "Along the way I think I've improved more than I thought I could," Mauck said about his performance at LSU so you never know this is what Saban said about Mauck: "Matt is probably as fine a person as you'd ever want to have on your team," Saban said. "He's a bright guy. He's an articulate guy. He gets along well with the other players. He's not aloof in any way. He has a lot of respect for his teammates, which is important when you're a leader." and Michael Clayton: "Matt has a way about him that makes everybody believe in him," said wide receiver Michael Clayton. "He's confident so everyone's confident. He's a great leader." Matt Mauck
