they are lack of discipline. something peterson has been pushing the limits of since hes been here after almost every play. while a good play on the return, he needs more restraint. its a team game. on the surface, i liked it, but its still a selfish move. the facemask by mingo was just an aggressive play. i wouldnt want to do anything to lessen that.
Excessive, stupid penalties are the reflection of an undisciplined team, and for that you can blame coaching.
you say the penalties are the players' fault, but who puts them on the field and prepares them to play in games? I'm not saying it all on the coaches, but you must agree that at least some of it is, right? Also, can you truely look at this team over the last 2.5 years and say we are headed in the right direction? Do you really believe an SEC West title is in our future? I'm not saying Les should be fired now or even at the end of the season necessarily, but with your logic we will never be in the SECCG.
I'll put it like this, and I've been one of the pro-Miles crowd since he's been around here. Another win, 4-0, yadda yadda... That's great and I like it. But the problem I see is what's coming down the road. LSU's defense and special teams alone deserve most of the credit for the wins this season, especially NC and WVU. I'm glad we have the guys in place to be able to do that for us, but unfortunately it will not get us through the entire season like that. We've arguably played the 'easiest' stretch of our schedule now (albeit sloppy), and it will only get harder from here on out. And just like last year, opponents are going to load up the box and dare LSU to throw because quite frankly, it doesn't appear that we can. I don't think we can continue to run against Florida, Alabama, Arkansas, etc.. and not be able to get the ball down field in the air at some point. I don't know what's causing it, I do know there has been some deep discussion within the staff about who should be QB, but it's apparent what side of that battle Miles is on. I've liked the man since we hired him, but he makes it damn hard to defend him sometimes. It's frustrating to watch a team that is playing this well on defense and special teams, flat-line on offense. I'm glad we are actually able to gain yardage running this season. If this offense were to accidentally click and start executing, especially passing, then it would look like the pros. Ok. I'm done.. Bring on the Vols!
well actually he tried to tackle the guy around his head I mean, there is one thing to tackle high (which is wrong technique), but damn That kid looks awesome but has no discipline
one might say there's a difference between criticizing when its warranted based on things that actually happen versus having a set agenda and picking and choosing pieces that fit that agenda and focusing on just those things. there's a difference btwn dissention and revolution.
or how about when Brandon Taylor makes a weak arm tackle gets up and starts jumping up and down and running his mouth..shaking his head waving his arms AND THEN the very NEXT PLAY gets beat in the back of the END ZONE for 6.
They are responsible for having this offense run crisp and clean. Just watch the Saints today. Watch what a well coached offense looks like. You're likely not to see an offensive penalty or turnover. That comes from repetition in practice. Over and over and over again. These boneheaded penalties and turnovers come from poor practice. Stuff that isn't getting corrected by the coaching staff. I know you're familiar with the expression, you play like you practice.
