I guess most of you have heard the crying from Oxford about the mascot. I understand some of the reasons for the change. But let me ask you Tiger fan's a question in all sincerity. IF PETA/ACLU/OR some other organization "really" jumped in on LSU having a live tiger and managed to legally get it changed, how would you feel? I'm saying that they overcame the objections of "he has it made, etc." If they said that he was meant to be in the "wild" and able to fend for himself, roam the land, and bred, and won the decision---how would you react? I know we are talking political correctness vs animal right, but what "IF?"
they have already tried. they sent letters to school administrators when Mike V died trying to convince them not to get a Mike VI. they were politely told to jump in a lake. it would tear me apart if the school were to fall for those kinds pc shenanigans and not have a mike. i would also have more than a small issue with peta. psycho bitch comes to mind on what my reaction to them would be.
They don't realize that Mike's house cost more than about 95% of the rest of the people in Louisiana and probably lives better than 50% of the people in this state. Now if we could just get him some wild tiger ass, his life would be golden.
Won't happen. It's been tried as recently as the death of Mike V and the LSU administration basically told them to go to hell. If it did somehow hypothetically happen there would be extraordinary pressure brought to bear against Lombardi, the Board of Supervisors and the state legislature/AG to fight the ruling in court.
and if it was the school administration that had a hand in it, bowing to pc pressure, i can see a huge backlash in the form of lost donations until it was corrected and whoever made the decision gone. it would not sit well with supporters.
Absolutely, that's a given. Which makes me think the only way it could happen would be for PETA to take LSU to court and some weenie state or federal judge rules in their favor.
I think we shouldn't be the tigers anyway. We need to observe politically correct protocol !! We should adopt a more Louisiana type mascot to honor our natural heritage ...."The Fighting Choupique" :hihi: or ..."The Great Gaspergou of LSU" :thumb: ...Any other ideas of animals endemic to Louisiana wetlands out there??? ...The bullfrogs ????.....(nah, what would we call the golden girls? the frog legs??) ...The brulot?....(nah, someone already is the sand gnats-I think) ...The White Shrimps ????.......(nah, too racist) :nope:.
WAIT A MINUTE GUYS......I'M SAYING THAT IT WAS A "COURT" DECISION. NOT OPEN TO DEBATE. JUST LIKE AT OM, IT'S GONE...NOW WHAT DO YOU DO OR WANT? THE ADMIN HAS TO FOLLOW THE DECISION.....WOULD THAT NOT BE A BITCH? I know that it was not a court decision at OM. But years ago I would have said that they would never remove the flag, playing Dixie, or the original "Col Reb." Some of you old timers might remember a student dressed in a confederate uniform including his saber. I can see this removal. But the mascot we had? If it offended anyone, I would have thought it would be those effected by Downs syndrome. Some funny fat fart running as best he could with those huge shoes!! Trying to kick field goals. Maybe he should have just humped MSU's dog.
You can't just let zoo animals free. They aren't accustomed to the wild and wouldn't be able to survive. Releasing a zoo tiger would just kill it since it never learned from it's mother how to hunt for food/hide/camoflage/etc. Personally I hate the PC crap that is going around. My beloved Orangemen are now just a fruit. All of the teams that have native American names or mascots should keep them. Having those names are a tribute to the people, not an insult.
