apparently Darry Beckwith is a finalist for this award... http://www.marketwire.com/press-release/Butkus-Foundation-924934.html my question would be.......why? Beckwith has to go in the same category as Cameron Vaughn as one of the most over rated Linebackers in LSU history. any thoughts?
Hmmm... never thought about that. He had a very good sophomore season when he was surrounded by a good supporting cast, but since, he has been hampered by injuries, and even when he has been healthy, he has been unimpressive.
I would not call him overrated. His rep was built upon 3 years of great gameplay. His senior year faded due to injury and a defensive collapse with dual DCs. Physically, he is a shadow of himself today. If he could have declared as a sophomore, he would have been playing on Sunday. Michale Brooks comes to mind. Because his injury destroyed his senior year, was he overrated?
I will always think he won us the SECCG last year with his late interception inside the redzone. That one was just as important as Zenon's
Disappointing senior season - injuries and an underperforming defense around him. Perhaps the folks "in the know" recognize something? Off topic - anyone else really like corned beef and hatch?
