    Top 5 RBs taken in '06 draft by career yards(total yards: rush, rec, ret)
    • Jones-Drew (60th pick) 5,643 yds
    • Leon Washington (117th) 5,203 yds
    • Jerrius Norwood (79th pick) 5,029 yds
    • DeAngelo Willimas (27th pick) 3,910 yds
    • Reggie Bush (2nd pick) 3,647 yds
    Jones-Drew has only 31 more touches than Bush, everyone else is at least 70 touches behind Reggie.

    So everyone else has fewer touches but more yards/average than the #2 pick. Figures.

    • Jones-Drew (60th pick) 5,643 yds ; 713 att ; 8.95 avg
    • Leon Washington (117th) 5,203 yds ; 541 att ; 9.61 avg
    • Jerrius Norwood (79th pick) 5,029 yds ; 469 att ; 10.72 avg
    • DeAngelo Willimas (27th pick) 3,910 yds ; 612 att ; 6.38 avg
    • Reggie Bush (2nd pick) 3,647 yds ; 682 att; 5.34 avg

    Other 1st round backs from '06
    • Laurence Maroney (21st pick) 2,766 yds ; 442 att ; 6.25 avg
    • Joe Addai (30th pick) 3,533 ; 745 att ; 4.74 avg
    No other back taken that year gets enough playing time to even consider.
    So yards per touch, Reggie has a lower avg than everyone but Addai.
    Addai is the only one to never return any kicks, which can inflate your average a bit, yet he's closer to catching Reggie than Reggie is to catching anyone else.

    So yeah, I'd call Reggie a bust at this point.

    Including KO and punt returns isn't really fair to some of the guys, but then again I've seen Bush play so it doesnt matter. . .

    Bush being injured will probably hurt the Saints' draft order. With Bush out, there's a goood chance the Saints will win one or both of their games which may drop them several spots.

    If he played both games, we would have a better chance of losing...IMO.

    The Saints would try to force the ball to Bush, be too predictable on offense, and never be able to convert on 3rd and short.

    On punts, it seems Bush either breaks loose for a big gain or goes backwards. I wish he played smarter.

    Without him, I believe the offense will be more effective and spread the ball around.

    ok then rush/rec yds only
    • Jones-Drew --> 3,691 yds ; 627 att ; 5.88 avg
    • Washington --> 2,146 yds ; 387 att ; 5.54 avg
    • Norwood --> 2,353 yds ; 361 att ; 6.51 avg
    • Williams --> 3,056 yds ; 567 att ; 5.38 avg
    • Reggie --> 3,149 yds ; 631 att ; 4.99 avg
    • Addai --> 3,533 yds ; 745 att ; 4.74 avg
    He's still far enough down the list to say that #2 overall may have been a bit high. (left Maroney off since he has less than 2000 yards without the returns).

    I've been saying that too.

    But i don't think it's Bush's fault, I blame Payton. Payton has absolutely no clue how to use Reggie. Payton's tries to run him between the tackles instead of getting him in space.

    Not to mention he never sends Reggie deep. Payton gets way too "cute" with the play-calling when Reggie's in there.

    I say trade him for some draft picks and build a defense for crying out loud.

    He's in his third year of mediocrity, and the Saints couldn't get much for him if they wanted. What team would want Bush enough to give up a decent draft pick?

    I agree 100%, but 'd have never thought a team would have given a 2nd round pick for Shockey, so you never know.

    Then again, it was the SAINTS who gave up that 2nd rounder, so it's hard to use that as the litmus test being their front office is one of the worst in pro sports.
