Anyone who understands that taxes are to run the government, not people's lives. Anyone who understands that the majority should at least be listened to. Anyone who feels that lowering the debt trumps political ambition. Yep, pretty much anyone.
And you think republicans are going to give that to you? All past evidence to the contrary. Democrats tax and spend, repubs. tax and borrow. Dems cowtow to minorities, unions, repubs to big business, the rich. None of them are really going to follow the guidelines you just laid out.
The people voted. You can't claim the majority until your side wins. The Republicans have never lowered debt. Only Bill Clinton has lowered debt in modern history.
So you mean anyone who just pops up and says that right? Because we all know that when it comes down to actually doing it, they will fold like a lawn chair.
During Bill Clinton’s presidency, from 1992 to 2000: - Spending increased by 29.49%. - Tax revenues increased by 85.58%. Obviously, Bill Clinton did not control federal spending since it increased by almost 30% during his tenure. What saved his goat was the dramatic 85.58% increase in tax revenues. So the raw data show that although federal spending increased dramatically during Clinton’s term, tax revenues increased even faster! That’s why there was a budget surplus - tax revenue increased at a faster pace than Bill Clinton could spend it. The surplus had nothing to do with his ability to intentionally balance the budget. The Phantom Republican: Did Bill Clinton Really Create a Budget Surplus? Part 1 His presidency enjoyed the birth of a new industry, namely the internet (dot.coms). That is what helped him during that time. Some seem to forget.
There is only one way to pay down debt. Produce more income than expenses. Clinton was the only President to do so. Tax income can be raised or spending can be cut. Since nobody is cutting spending, then the choices are to pay more taxes or borrow more money. Democrats tax--hurting the citizens bottom line, Republicans borrow--putting the country in debt. Neither side is seeking the proper balance point between these policies.
Right out of Pelosi's book: "We're in power now so fk off". A majority elected Obama, sure, but once they saw what was up his sleeve a greater majority rebelled. Barack failed to listen and now Congress (his source of power) will pay dearly for his arrogance. Republicans haven't had to.
