Just heard on ESPNEWS... Not that he was very productive anyway, but this is another injury to the Saints running game. link
If this year was last year, there'd be cause for concern, but we ain't going no where anyway, so heal up Reggie and give us better production next year.
Saints are in position to get into the playoffs by winning their last 4 games, all of which are very winnable. I don't know if they can pull it off, and without Reggie it would seem pretty much impossible. I agree that maybe Payton has to be a little more inventive and maybe more disciplined all in the same breath with Reggie out. Will Brees start heaving the ball 50 times? Looks like he might have to. We get to see Pierre Thomas. Maybe we will find out we got a pretty damn good back.
Thankfully not everyone believed the hype about this guy. Anyone that questioned his ability to be a full-time back were shutdown, and you dare not mention that he may have injury problems. Those were heady days. Of course, he's apparently had this injury for a while, so I admire him playing through pain. It's just nice to see the fallout after he was heralded as the second coming of Gale Sayers -- oops, that turned out to partially be Devin Hester, not the #2 pick.
Reggie Bush - '06 - 155 carries for 565 yards for an average of 3.6 ypc with 6 TDs. He had 88 catches for 742 yards and 2 TDs. '07 - 157 carries for 581 yards for an average of 3.7 ypc with 4 TDs. He had 73 catches for 417 yards and 2 TDs. Mario Williams - '06 - 47 tackles with 4.5 sacks, 1 forced fumble and 4 pass deflections. '07 - 40 tackles with 8.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 1 pass deflection, and one TD. So I guess all those who blasted the Texans for not taking the next Barry Sanders should keep their trap shut.
