hmm lets see..... Marcus Randall 139.69 qb effic. 102 for 162 with 6 int's 1269 yards 9 touchdowns on the year. Rushing 393 yards 3 touchdowns. Jamarcus Russell - 127.9 effic 73-144 (freshman) 1053 yards 9 touchdowns and 4 int's. 68 yards rushing and 1 touchdown. Matt Flynn (freshman) 4-10 no picks and 1 touchdown and 99 total yards with 9 yards rushing. That one touchdown was against Miss St. a game which we won 51-0. So Jamarcus and Randall are about even, but i know, lets start flynn for the first time in a bowl game. If you can honestly sit there and tell me he would have done the same thing if he was coming back the next year, then you are kidding yourself. The only other times in Saban's tenure at LSU that the third string quarterback was brought into a game were as follows: 2002 Rick Clausen vs. Bama 2002 Rick Clausen vs. Ole Miss. if you remember correctly Matt Mauck got hurt that year against florida, and we got blown out by alabama which is why Clausen got moved up to 2nd string, and got to get in because we got our asses kicked 31-0. 2001 Marcus Randall vs. Tulane final score to that game was 51 to 0, i wonder why we saw a third stringer that game. 2000 Craig Nall vs. Western Carolina 58-0 once again i wonder why we saw a 3rd stringer in that game as well. NO STARTS, especially not in a damn bowl game. As for the notes who cares, you think if saban was going straight to bama he would have left those? he thought the NFL was going to be another notch on the saban belt, and his ego never led him to believe he would FAIL. which is why he left those notes, do you think other coaches that leave do that, you think Phil Fulmer will do that, you think Barry Alvarez did that, seems like that would be pretty much expected. So pardon me if im not ready to give him the "nice guy of the 2004" award for giving les miles notes on players. If you saw him get on prude then i apologize i wasnt there i didnt see it, i was too busy slamming my 34 ounce beer mug on the counter at hooters in Plano. As for what you said about you nor i are coaches. I totally agree with you on that aspect also. I cant sit here and say that i honestly believe that he has LSU's best interest in mind when he decided to do something he had never done before in his career at LSU and that is play a 3rd stringer when the game wasnt over.
What I don't understand is why Saban would tell stories of NFL players' selfishness and uncoachability over and over again and still make the jump to the league. You can't run NFL teams like the way he runs colleges.
First off, Marcus Randall was second string at the beginning of 2001. I know only shooting myself in the foot by your theory. Second, Rick Clausen started the 2002 Ole Miss game. Third, according to his bio... Flynn only saw limited action and did not start the Capital One bowl. His first career start was the Peach bowl. Sorry guess you will have to find another reason to hate Saban for not caring about the game. I'm pretty sure Marcus Randall started the game seeing as it was his last and he was a Team Captain for the game. http://www.lsusports.net/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=27812&SPID=2164&DB_OEM_ID=5200&ATCLID=174952&Q_SEASON=2004
Didnt Jamarcus lead us on that scoring drive at tyhe end? How much did Flynn play? I dont even remember him in the game.
If the opponent has a :crystal: then I pull for Bama because I like LSU being the only team to have :crystal::crystal:.
Actually your right. When LSU won the 2nd :crystal: it took a little bit of sunshine away from USC's claim to a split in 03'. I think the same would happen if Saban won a 2nd.
Jamarcus was in at the end and Flynn played one or two drives at the end of the 1st half if I recall correctly now. He went 1 for 4 for 11 yards and was sacked once per the stats of the game on lsusports.net
So it sounds like we should thank our coaches for getting him playing time in a bowl game and it wasnt a big deal?
