Welcome back! Let me take a stab at this one.

There are selected members of the Buckeye nation who posted admirably on TF during and after the championship month, you obviously included. The Buckeye fans who traveled to NO and partied after the game were credits to the university, and I heard nothing but good about them.

But when it comes to conference loyalty, the SEC has it. We talk trash to all our rivals on these boards, and have to put up with them where ever we go to our usual vacation hang outs in Gulf Shores Al, Destin, Fl., Gatlinburg Tn., etc. But if it comes down to a Big Ten team winning the nat. championship, or an SEC team that is NOT us, we'll take the SEC team every time (except Bama fans have a particularly hard time pulling for Auburn or Tenn. in that situation).

I don't sense that about the Big Ten, but I could be wrong. My impression is its Ohio St. and Mich. and everyone else, and if the big 2 are not in the championship hunt, nobody else who wins the Big Ten that year will be in the champ. hunt either. Ya'll (excuse me) just don't seem to rally around your conference mates.

    In the SEC, we do.

Then there is a historical thing with Ohio St. and Mich. being so revered by the national media, while for the last 50 years, the SEC has felt overlooked because the large media centers are in NY, Chicago, and California. The SEC feels it has had something to prove, and while the BCS is not perfect, the championship game formula IS an improvement over the old bowl setup, where you were almost guaranteed the two best teams in the country would NEVER meet up, or very seldom.

Because of the BCS, now all the national media announcers acknowledge what we have felt in the SEC for the last 60 years, we can play ball with anyone. And we are usually 6 teams deep with quality.

I think we didn't expect as good a fan base as we met, we expected a bit more arrogance and we discovered a solid mid western bunch of non delusional good drinking good time havin Buckeyes. Without constant reassurance, we may have reverted to our stereotypical view, sorry about that.

But at the end of the day, we (myself included) would rather see Ga. win the championship (if we can't), over anybody else. Fl. may contend with Tebow, but Ga. hasn't had a turn lately so I'd pull for them. We play Ga. and I hope we win, of course.

Maybe more than you wanted, but you're worth the time! I see where you're coming from.

took the works right out of my mouth!

not to be rude, but osu is sooner or later gonna be looked at like ou, and many of the post game articles i read show that is already starting. that they dont belong in the big game to begin with. voters are sooner or later gonna get tired of hearing "why" they belong there, when those reasons have been invalided so recently. just a cold hard fact. i mean face it. when you heard bob stoops making his pitch for ou this year, didnt you roll your eyes and think "yeah, right"? of course, stoops/ou is choking in any bs bowl game now, which just backs up that way of thinking.

    that is better!

i agree. what i have seen of osu fans, before, during, and after the game, they stand head and shoulders above ou fans. (no disprespect to peabody, one of the few sooner fans i truely like.) 99% of the buckeye fans that posted - and are still posting - here, have shown to be good fans of cfb in general, and represent their school well. i hope yall stick around. the rival posters that are here help make the forum what it is!

I find it amusing that an Ohio State fan is STILL not sold on yet another SEC team that is ranked within the top 3.

Question: How many beatdowns will it take before Buckeye fans realize that the SEC is very competitive?

Excuse me for thinking LSU has the talent and coaching to win in the SEC. I suppose the team I root for means that i have no right to have an opinion? I wasn't impressed with matt stafford, and though moreno is going to be an incredible back, i'm not sure that Hawaii is a great measuring stick. They played well at the end of the season, but potential doesn't always result in championships. The mental gaffes earlier in the season were the difference between a good team and a great team. LSU had the mental fortitude to get up for every game...once i see that from GA, then i'll buy in a little more.

Wanna take some more cheap shots? Did you guys beat us or something? Not sure what kind of license that's supposed to grant you in the realm of internet chat boards, but if you expect us to cow down because we lost a game, then you're seriously underestimating our faith in our team. My appraisal of an SEC team has nothing to do with my team, some of us are actually fans of college football, and have enough perspective to at least try and see things from different perspectives. Not that I would expect you to get that...

In Bowl Games...in Fact, we are 1-1-1 against LSU. Although that's pretty snappy trash talk, i can see why you went with it anyway! :thumb:
