Im hearing Brown will only be out 1 game at most. The original estimate of 3 games had to do with the bureaucracy of restoring his eligibility after paying back the monies. Supposedly the monies have been paid or about to be paid. It was less than $300. Once the monies are paid they re-submit his case to the NCAA which could take some days to approve. The NCAA didnt prohibit Brown from practicing and he is still involved as a normal player.

That's because the NCAA ...IS... really fishy !!!:hihi:.

Not to defend Brown or Tennessee, but this really seems petty on face value. But since it has to do with money for a player and not any of Kiffen's numerous secondary recruiting violations...

I'm beginning to think that the NCAA is the only private agency that behaves like a governmental one. They make the Corps of engineers and FEMA after Katrina look like models of efficiency...with the power of the IRS.

LSU's compliance officers must feel like they're wrestling with a pig in the mud when they deal with the NCAA...eventually you get to a point where you realize that the pig actually enjoys it !! :insane:.

Tennessee believes the NCAA is trying to make a statement to the Butlers of the world. The problem is, on the basketball side there are hundreds of these Butler types that routinely mentor and guide high school players. The NCAA is running the risk of selective enforcement complaints when they dont spend near the amount of energy on basketball mentors.

Hamilton has played this one very close to the vest. It sounds like only a couple AD personnel where involved and knew the full details. Kiffin himself was kept completely out of the loop. There has been a lot of misinformation because Tenn has not officially answered any questions and wont at this point. The issue is over and a gag order has come down from Hamilton. It wont be talked about further by anybody in the AD office or the football staff.

This is probably a smart move by Hamilton considering the history with Kiffin in charge.
