PG Deron Williams, Shaun Livingston SG Joe Johnson, Jason Terry SF Paul Pierce, Andre Kirilenko PF Kevin Garnett, Reggie Evans C Brook Lopez, Andre Blatche That's a pretty damn solid 2 deep. What Garnett will bring to this team in terms of grit, fight and passion, combined with the clutchness of Paul Pierce and Jason Terry (along with valuable playoff experience) to go with talents like Williams, Johnson and Lopez, this could be the team to unseat the Miami Heat as the Eastern Conference champions. This is a team that can both run it up and down the court or have a solid half court offense when necessary. A nice balance of rebounders, defensive specialists, scorers and facilitators. I love the makeup of this team. Pierce and Garnett's playing time can be tempered with the quality depth behind them so that they can be fresh and ready when the playoffs start.
The team was a mess last year trying to mesh together it's new parts and add to that, 3-4 more pieces this year, I wouldn't jump on that bandwagon just yet. KG would be the only starter that can play defense and he's already old. I see much of the same for the Nets this upcoming season - battling the Knicks for 4th place in the East
Well I blame that all on the head coach. The only issue is they hired Jason Kidd and he is a total unknown. So it could be much the same chaos. I would have gone after a veteran coach to try to win a championship in this limited window of opportunity. I do agree it's a wait and see kind of thing. Potential is there to have a very competitive team.
Yeah, but a bit more talented. 80+ games at their ages will be tough, but come playoffs, etc, they may be formidable if not worn out.
My point is they have more than ample depth so that the old vets don't have to be pushed too hard in the regular season. I think it is all up to Jason Kidd to manage this team and not necessarily worry about winning every game during the regular season (e.g., ala Gregg Popovich).
