It was a mistake by a new coach, all coaches make mistakes see Nick Saban! I'm not saying it was staged but that it was idea being floated around. I'm not sure we know the whole story here, I'm not convinced Jay Cutler wanted to stay since Shanahan was fired, some of Jays actions could indeed be staged so that he could get what he wanted which has been out of Denver. There also is a lot of pressure on QB's here in Denver since Elway left. I don't think Cutler is mature enough to handle that! Brat, I think we have the same opinion for the most part about this situation. I strongly disagree, I believe its like you said at first, a new coach made a stupid mistake. I wouldn't call the bronco organization stupid!  I'm not saying that everything he has done is an act. Cutler is still fuming from his altercation with Phillip Rivers a few years ago. I don't think something is quite right with Jay but I'm hoping its because he is young and stubborn only!
I guess I'm in the minority here, I happen to think Cutler is 100% right for wanting to leave the Broncos. How would you feel if your employer wanted to move someone else in for your job? You wouldn't like it one bit especially if they didn't have the resume you had. You would also start looking for some place where you would feel appreciated. Why in the hell would you want to trade him for Matt Cassel to begin with? Cutler is the the prototypical NFL QB and he's only been in the league for 3 yrs. He's been pretty descent for his age and his best years are a head of him. They finished #2 in offense last year, the losing wasn't his fault. This would be like the Saints trying to trade Brees. I believe this will come back to burn the Broncos in the ass. They just became one of my hated teams.
I don't understand what you mean about the resume you had? Anyway the point isn't about Cutler wanting to leave, it is about the way the situation was handled by both sides. I don't know about you but I would love to be in Cutler's shoes. They never said they wanted to trade him, it was nothing more than talk. Why? Because Josh McDaniels is familar with Matt Cassel and not Jay Cutler? Maybe Cassel is his guy? These kind of things happen in the NFL all the time, teams entertain trades but it doesn't really mean that its any more than talk to begin with. It just may burn the Broncos but it is no guarantee that it won't burn Cutler in the ass either. You mentioned the Saints, maybe he will turn into Archie Manning of the new millenium. He could easily go to Detroit and spend most of next year on his back. I don't understand this? Are you related to Jay Cutler? I hope I never piss you off. To hate a team over such a petty thing, both sides are most likely in the wrong here.
It looks like he could go to San Fran.... http://www.denverexaminer.problitz.com/sports/broncos/20090401-Cutler-Trade.html
you're too close to the situation and believing all the crap spewed out by the organization and fans to protect themselves and make themselves feel better about what happened. the owner screwed up by wanting to trade cutler and bring in cassell. its really just that simple. its no set-up, no conspiracy, no confusion. cutler's ego was crushed and the stupid ownership should have known better. of course its a business but it wasnt smart business. you do this behind the scenes until a deal is finalized. then ship his ass off. now both are screwed due to the hurt boo-boo cutler and the retarded new coach. Ends up being a lose/lose more than likely.
Jay's resume is he's a former 1st round draft pick and he's started 3 times as many games as Cassell. He has all the tools and has a higher upside than Cassell. Jay is everything you would want in a young QB. If you and me heard about the trade talk then it was more than just talk. I just don't care for teams than the owners think they can do the players anyway they want. I believe Jay was 100% a Bronce but the Broncos weren't 100% Jay Cutler. And yes you'd be better off not to ever piss me off because I don't get mad easily but when I do.........
Cutler has always been a big sissy baby. This should surprise no one. There is no player in the entire league that is untouchable. Of COURSE a team will and should consider any trade -- especially when the player involved is generally a petulent brat. Denver probably should have kept it quiet, but only because they should know the immaturity they have in Cutler. I'm thinking if we all pray enough, and maybe send cash, he could go to Philly and (quite literally?) kill two birds with one stone.
Actually most people would disagree with you, Pat Bolen is no Al Davis. So I guess you would prefer Pat Bolen and his new coach let Cutler dictate the terms or conditions of the situation? Usually when a new coaching staff comes in this kind of thing does happen no matter which team is involved. I will guarantee that probably 99% of all Bronco players will tell you how good Pat Bolen is as an owner and how well he treats his players. Keep in mind that Pat Bolen has been hands off for many years. Mike Shanahan had complete control of everything and that is what ultimately led to his demise. The Broncos record hasn't been very good the last 3 years, new, in-experienced coach has led to Bolen's involvement in the football team. I would agree with this once the new coaching staff arrived, everything changed. This is no surprise under the circumstances. When you get mad or pissed off pot is the answer of all problems or a good shrink!
