If you look at how big his foot is when it's on the green part of the field you can clearly tell he stepped out.
Doesn't really matter anyway. I've watched enough saints games in my life to know that the saints scored too quick and would've given up the game winning FG. It's just who they are.
Very good chance you're right. One other thing....I can see the NFL eventually legislating that leap over the line out of the game. There's really only one way for the kicking team to block it, and that's for the center to raise up and either knock the leaper back, or even higher and out of control. Either way, its going to lead to injuries, and as the leap keeps proving successful, more and more teams are going to be trying it.
That's exactly what I said. Makes the bitterness of the loss more bearable. That said though, has there ever been another franchise in the history of sports that finds more ways to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory?
The Broncos obviously saw something either on film or during the game and saved it for just the right time. The head scratching part of it (at least one of them) is they played Seattle last week and Bobby Wagoner is known for doing that exact same thing, so they had to at least be aware of the possibility of it happening, then they let their guard down against the Broncos. <sigh>
Yep, the only one I can remember worse was the 2011 playoff game to SF. That Saints team was better than the team that won the Super Bowl and would have one a 2nd had they moved on from this game. The other regular season loss that comes to mind is the Stanford-Cal play against Jacksonville where Carney missed the xtra point. It didn't get blocked. He MISSED it. How does a pro miss an xtra point from the 3 yard line?
