Was this guy from Miss St All-American? Did he help lead his team to anything? Not exactly the same situation. Chad couldn't brag about being a 5th round pick, but he could brag about what he accomplished.

any person selected in the draft at MSU deserves to give his coach props...

I don't know a heck of a lot about this guy, but I do know that for as much of a pushover MSU is, we don't blow them down on the ground...

No. He wasn't an All-American...but at the end of the day (right now), he can look Lavalais square in the eyes and say, "You were a 5th-round draft choice--just like me and we make the same $$$--we're equal." ...and he could care less about Chad's All-American status because All-American nominations, and Heisman trophies, etc. don't mean jack in the pros.

5th rd NFL picks make more money than us college kids do...

Put him in LSU's defensive talent pool, he may be 1st rd... you never know:thumb:

I don't know anything about this Miss St DL. The real question is, was this player talented to begin with, was he already developed, was he all potential etc? If he was already talented & mostly developed, a DL coach doesn't get that much credit for getting him into the draft in the 5th round because he could have likely been there without him. That's my only point here, and I admit that I don't know the answer.

Money is great, but at the end of the day - Chad will always be remembered as an All-American, but both could likely be forgotten as NFL players.

The following is what was said about the Miss State player shortly after his Sr. season:

That makes me believe he was not very well-rounded entering his Sr. year and perhaps coaching helped him elivate his stock?

Perhaps, but it's not enough to make me think this guy is great right now. I'm not saying he won't be great, just that he's not proven yet as far as I can tell.

Just an honest question: Did you feel that coach Peveto was a proven guy when he came to us from Middle Tennessee State of all places? ....Peveto has turned into one of my most respected coaches on the staff.

Didn't know anything about him, so no. Just like I'm saying about this guy. From the limited info I know, he hasn't proven that he is great. Does that mean anything? Not really. It has nothing to do with whether they actually are great. If Miles thinks he's got something great to bring to the program, then I'm all for it.

The D-line at Miss St. was considered to be its biggest asset. That speaks well of the position coach imo.
