Following its annual football banquet Cincinnati head coach Brian Kelly announced to his team in a private meeting that he would be leaving for Notre Dame. His team became very upset with him when he informed them he would not be coaching them for the Sugar Bowl. One player walked out of the meeting in disgust.

Well he was one of the lowest paid coaches to finish in the top 25. i cant blame him for taking a prestigious job at notre dame making loads of dough. best of luck to him.

    LSU!

Why I don't blame him for taking a job at a more prestigious school, I think it was tasteless to:
    -Deny interest to begin with
    -Contacting ND in secret
    - leave before the bowl game
As Cincinnati is not a powerhouse, most of the kids there probably aren't going to play pro ball, meaning this will be a highlight of their football career. Walking out before hand is a slap in the face to them:po:

I feel really bad for his players. Think back, it's the way most of us figured WE'D feel when Miles left us for Michigan in '07.

Of course, now, many people wish he had.

Some of their hatred would actually be well deserved if he had.

    Oh, get over yourselves.

Everyone denies interest. If you publically showed interest in every job you were interested in, you would never get anywhere in coaching because you are constantly talking about other jobs. If your boss asked you if you were interested in another job, what would you tell him? "hell no" of course, and then you would go on an interview. It's just covering your a$$.

Everyone leaves before bowl games. You have to if you want the job because you have to start recruiting.

I hate when people get high and might but when faced with the exact same situation would act exactly the same.

Maybe you would, but I wouldn't. Besides, didn't St. Nick stay for the bowl game. So, not everyone leaves before bowl games. I can't blame him for taking the job. It's a definite step up. The way he did it was tasteless

Saban did it poorly because he didnt have the stones to bail in Baton Rouge, he left for the Bowl game and told us on Christmas. PLus its the NFL. In college you have to get going on recruiting asap. NFL doesnt matter. So its apples to oranges.

Personally ND hired the flavor of the month = Failed......

Yeah, I don't see it panning out too well for them.
