Losing a skilled recruit is never a good thing, but I get your point. Any athletic QB can run the spread, but a true dual threat can dominate... as long as he is a dual threat... DUAL meaning he can also pass.
And not just to your first option. Has to be able to go through progressions, extend the play with eyes upfield.
We never truly had a dual threat, we had tailbacks we tried to make QB. Like mentioned a true dual threat can run, throw the short, medium, and long pass with some degree of accuracy. That is something we have not seen since we lost RP. Miles tried to make every running guy who could throw the ball a dual threat. Like every other position he dabbled in something he knew nothing about. When we lost RP and Lee gave him nightmares with pick sixes he started with JJ and implemented what he thought was a dual system. He has been square peg in round hole ever since excluding Mett. Most true dual guys can throw and have a good QB i.q. Ours were not smart enough to know when to go through progressions and when to use their feet. This is why we are so reluctant to have that kind of QB, because Les tried to sell us a Cushman and tell us it was a Harley. I'm not a big fan of the spread and the running QB but it is effective when run with the right personnel. Even Nick adjusted somewhat, seeing that the change of pace was working.
I just dont understand all the panic displayed by the LSU faithful....So, will LSU football hit ROCK BOTTOM because one QB chose to decommit? Let it go and move on to the next man up.....
That's what I was talking about with RP, he was probably the last true dual threat LSU has seen. Everyone else was counterfeit.
I just read that he hasn't actually decommitted; just taking other visits. How that's different from decommitting? I'm not sure.
