Story in today's Austin American Statesman details rift between Drew Brees and his mother Nina Brees, an Austin attorney and Democratic candidate for Judge of the 3rd Court of Appeals. Ms. Brees made some TV spots that showed Drew in his San Diego Chargers uniform. The spot also mentioned that she is the sister of former UT QB Marty Akins (Akins ran for Gov. last time out and got his butt kicked). Anyway, seems Drew didn't want his likeness in her political ads, asked her to remove him from them, and on October 20th, had his agent send her a letter threatening legal action. According to Drew, their relationship soured when he was a Sr. at Purdue and wouldn't hire her as his agent. In describing his relationship with his mother, he used the term "nonexistent" and stated "my eyes have been opened to the lies and manipulation." Folks, no way around it, this situation is just sad.:dis:
Just heard about this on WWL radio. Pretty said when you gotta threaten mom with legal action for using pics of you in her campaign. When Drew was asked about the relationship with him and his mommy, the answer was "non existant". The reason being his mom is a lawyer and wanted to be his agent. Drew refused and they haven't been on good terms since.
You left out the BEST PART. The message that is playing while showing his picture in his uniform is " Unlike my son, I want to sit on the bench"
That's pretty sweet. Didn't see the TV spot, only the article about it. As for mama, my guess is that the Republican incumbent's gonna beat her like a rented mule and would have regardless of the Brees v. Brees thing.
