    Man I wish I could. I wish there actually was "realistic training" that could prepare us for shit like that. Unfortunately there just isn't aside from using actual ammo and no commander is going to risk not only their commission but their life on it because they would go to jail.

    What we do is train to a circumstance and use drills and sop's and do it so many times it becomes muscle and brain memory. In training! When you lock and load and its real bad guys with real bullets on the other end shit changes real fast for a great many of people. To truly be "effective" as you say there needs to be a little bit of crazy in ones head. You have to know "I just might die" but still go through with that shit.

    Call it what you will but that is my .02 fight or flight is real and for most you couldn't drive a buttered needle up their ass with a sledge hammer, the others say "game on" let's get er done. That isn't to say none of them are scared. That would make them robots. Fear isn't always a bad thing as it often times will keep you alive. Just have to find the balance.

    A coincidence, I'm assuming, that "The Day The Earth Stood Still" was on TV this morning. Klaatu's final speech:

    Would be nice if the world had no wars and people all got along and no evil. However it's fantasy to think that will ever bennthe case. We can make it better but till then maybe we need Gort to protect our children if the DEMOCRATS won't let us.
