well, no one is picking us to win the west, so that is usually when we kick ass. I really don't see where all the Alabama love is coming from, but that's ok, let them have their kool aid pissed in, also Houston Nutt will crumble, too much pressure on him and the Rebels. I have a great feeling about this season and if we contend for the SEC championship i will be pleased. Geaux Tigers.

The Bama and Ole Miss love is due in part to their easy East schedules compared to ours. Where we've got to worry about Florida and Georgia, they get to play powerhouses like Kentucky, South Carolina and Tennessee. They'll drop a few games, maybe even to teams they shouldn't, but on paper their margin of error is much greater than ours in order to get to Atlanta, so the point made in the article is actually a pretty good one.

Thanks for posting Red. That articles assessment is pretty spot on. Especially pointing out that our schedule could be the determining factor for us. I really believe the SEC as a whole is going to be nastier than ever to get thru. The west is most definately the stronger of the two divisions, but I think many maybe underestimating UT, UK, USCe, and Vandy.

I agree with most of that. I think Arky is going to be tougher than most people think and they will knock off a couple of bigger dogs in conference. I hope it's Bama and Ole Miss, not us

It will come down to those Bama and Ole Miss contests and it's payback time and I hope we can win both.

Bama will have some serious issues on offense. And Ole Miss is, well, Ole Miss. They will figure out a way to screw things up. Back to back good seasons has not been the case in forever.

I think you're right on this. Arkansas didn't lose a single pass catcher from a year ago (WR's, TE's, even FB's).

Just double checked that. There were 18 Arkansas players with receptions last year, and 15 of them are returning. The top 7 receivers from a year ago are all returning. In a Petrino offense with a supposedly all world QB in Ryan Mallet, they could be trouble by the end of the year.

Mallet hasn't taken a single snap in the SEC yet. I would not take what little action he saw against Big 10 defenses at Michigan and assume he'll put up as good or better numbers against SEC defenses. He could develop into a good QB by season's end, but he has a lot to prove before being anointed the next all-world QB.

Sure, and that's why I said supposedly. Still, he was the #1 player in the state of Texas and the #4 player in the country in the 2007 class. That combined with lots of experienced receivers to throw to and a Petrino offense, the odds seem to be in his favor.
