these guys are our only true tacklers, especially brandon taylor.

what i mean by true tackle:
    TACKLE THEIR FREAKING LEGS!!!

our entire defensive culture for the last two years has gone away from proper tackling into a try to knock the crap out them philosophy. that philosophy does not work, ever.

    *edit*

i'm not trying to sound negative, i just wish these guys watched more rugby or something. those guys never miss a tackle.

I think Jones is getting better and I think our LBers are generally pretty good.

Conversely, I've seen Peterson tackle via jersey and high when he could've laid the wood.

Just sayin'. (Peterson is still my fav defensive player!)

Too many people are trying to arm tackle and put the big hit on, and end up whiffing. Fundamentals, wrap up.

Peterson, we knew he was going to the be best cornerback on the team, but he may go down as the best corner LSU has ever seen. Brandon Taylor is a complete surprise. LSU usually has a problem with breaking in corners when they are young but these 2 are progressing better than we could have hoped for.

yeah and from the little mo claiborne i've seen, he's the truth too.

in all honesty, i feel like this year should be a building year for next year. so on that front i really wouldn't mind seeing claiborne starting opposite peterson. or eugene.

    but again, i'm no coach.

I've been noticing Taylor's tackles. He had a great open field one against USL that I remember. He is a surprise and must be tearing them up in practice to be starting. I bet he listens the most to the coaches or he'd be riding the bench.

Hopefully they'll help put the clamp down on some of these passing offenses coming up. I hope to see Peterson return a few INTs.

Coleman aint so bad himself. dude knows how to tackle. I would say Chad Jones has had a major improvement from week 1 to week 3.

I think Peterson has been by far the best player on D thus far. By the end of the year he may very well be a serious All American candidate. Next year he will be the top CB in the SEC and probably the country. I think he will surpass Webster as the best to ever don a LSU uniform. Thats saying a lot if he does because Webster was GREAT. Jackson was very good as well.

I really like what Ive seen with Taylor as well. He has pretty solid cover skills to go with his tackling. He has a lot of potential.

And that's a good thing for our defense... the longer teams try and avoid Peterson... the longer our defense only has to cover half the field. Should help them out quite a bit.
