not me. JJ could have played the entire game against Tulane and he still would not have been prepared to play Bama. With that in mind, you give Lee as many snaps as possible against the Greenies. Giving JJ snaps during the Tulane game would have accomplished NOTHING other than giving the ffans something to talk about.
I disagree again, I wouldnt base my opinion of a player that hasnt seen significant time on what other people that are not him have done in the past.
I have not seen any lack of effort from Lafell, other than a few lame attempts at tackles on the interceptions. He and Byrd both block very well too, and that is critical. Byrd does not seem to run routes nearly as sharp as Lafell and gets the ball less as a result. Watching him in the 3rd-4th quarters, he does not always look like he is busting it on his routes either. It's rare, but some of them just don't look good. Lee obviously has trouble reading the defenses and "knowing" which option the wr is going to use for his route. I think that is the biggest reason for staring down the receiver. If he is really unsure where they will break, going through his progressions is probably near impossible. Byrd is probably just frustrated with that.
when i posted this i wasnt trying to rip on Lafell as a wide receiver (he does have alot of drops but not as many this year as last year) I totally agree with you on the route running aspect, i havent seen anyone in purple and gold since josh reed get so open at times, Lafell is one of the best if not the best route runner in the NCAA, and one of the best blockers. It seems like LSU has had some above average blockers at wideout the last 5-6 years. Lafell, Dwayne Bowe was a great blocker, and Michael Clayton was a great blocker.
Uh, yeah, like catches, YAC, vertical, etc. I doubt they've ever passed (no pun) on a great WR cause he couldn't tackle.
