I just think it would be demoralizing to have the offense work on tackling in practice. Clearly, though it would help us on the field. In the offense's defense, the type of INT that Lee throws tends to be over the middle. The player who makes the pick has teamates around to give him a couple of initial blocks and find his lane.
It's clear Miles isn't the type of coach to throw his coaches and players under the bus during media interviews. The players have NOT given a lot of effort. It would be different if Jarret's pick 6's were screens and 5 yard curls that the DB picked and took into the endzone. Many of the interceptions had to be returned for great distances. Poor effort and tackling by the offense. And LaFell's effort was dog chit.
Lee's thrown INTs all over the field. He's been picked my D-Linemen, LBs, and safeties. Some are bad throws, others are bad decisions. Still others are both... And as far as tackling on offense...back when I played it was a part of the routine. We did tackling drills for about fifteen minutes once a week for that very reason. Picks are going to happen no matter WHO is throwing the ball and if SOMEBODY doesn't tackle the defender, he's going to the house.
And Jarret Lee is the greatest QB on earth! Just matching your inflammable posting. Because its nothing objective. However, you are wrong the Georgia game those picks where about 5 yards passes, as well as Florida and Auburn. Or maybe you dont want to admit that.
How does this turn into another Lee hate fest? Of course the interceptions were his fault but it is bizarre that these guys have run the distance they have after an interception. Lafell's lack of effort on Saturday may not be a constant, but it was glaring. The guy gets another 10-15 yards as a result. I can't figure out what he thought he was doing.
I wasnt hating on Lee with my post, just responding to the constant nonsense of one poster (poser). My initial post was something Miles said in an interview, nothing I came up with.
The Auburn one would have gone been brought back against anybody. Possibly the Florida one, but I'm a little hazy on the 2nd half of that game. The 2nd one against Georgia, however, are you seriously going to tell me that it's normal for a linebacker to run away from and distance himself from EVERYONE on our offense? SOMEBODY should have been able to catch him from behind. Hell he was only one step ahead of LaFell at the time of the pick and running the same direction. Then gets past our entire O-Line, TE, RBs and runs away from our receivers? Same with the one against Bama. There was no one deeper than him. Then he weaves his way through EVERYBODY? At least one of those guys on the field had to have tackled somebody at least once in their lives.
Some of them are legitimate, but some are simple head scratchers. We have made all these guys look like Devon Hester.
I am seriously going to tell you that some of them should have been stopped, but alot of them have been a beeline to the endzone. Now the second one against Georgia, I dont remember to well, I was pretty drunk by halftime against Georgia. But you are being to general, in an aspect of a linebackers speed. Georgia didnt have big bulky linebackers, they where speed guys from what I remember. Also, I never said that Lafell, had a great effort in trying to tackle the guy. I posted what Miles said about the play, go back an examine that. Lafell could have damn well gave a half ass effort on the play.
Speed guy at Linebacker and Speed guys at WR/RB are two different things. Plus, when the guy is loligagging down the sideline for the last 10 yards, I would think even a 1 legged OL could have caught him.
