anyone see that half ass attempted tackle lafell made after lee threw (i think it was) the 3rd pick? its messed up because it seems that when lee throws a pick, there is no LSU player anywhere in sight. That attempted shoulder block he did was pathetic. all he did when the alabama player picked off the ball was throw a shoulder and turn his head away. im not defending lee, because those throws were horrible, but man when a guy throws a pick, which he obviously will do often, make a damn tackle.
It was weird to look at. LaFell can deliver a hit, but thinking you can bring the wood to a DLineman that is running at you? Not what I would do for sure. He did a similar thing vs the Georgia lb that intercepted Lee. Peculiar doesn't quite cover it.
Appears that you both missed the obvious defensive blow on that runback. Who actually gave a half-ass attempt at tackling the interceptor of the ball? It was none other than #65 - our right guard, Lyle Hitt. Didn't he convert from being signed as a DL/LB? Now we know the rest of the story . . . (he couldn't tackle!) Oh, well. There's always tomorrow and the sun is shine again. :geaux:
I saw it when it happened. I was pissed. No effort. Half-assed shoulder bump. This team isn't as disciplined as years past and these coaches need to step up and start demanding every single little aspect of the game is given attention and 100% effort be demanded all the time.
He can lay the wood, see below. Didn't see him on the play in question. Would surprise me if its lack of effort, Lafell has always played hard.
Get ready to be surprised. Definite lack of effort. The guys need to realize that scouts look for the little things.
It was almost identical form as that hit. He hit the bama player like he was a 180 lb boy that was getting blindsided, instead of lifting his arms, wrapping him up and tackling him. Lafell just bounced off him like a fly. It would have been hilarious, if it were not one of our players.
Miles actually answered that question Monday about tackling after the interception. Miles was quoted saying that the Bama player just had key blocks and an angle to the endzone, that his players gave alot of effort.
Randy Rosetta had a great article on the interception tackle issue in today's Advocate: http://www.2theadvocate.com/sports/34312789.html
