Unfortunately for LSU, that means he probably bolts after this season. He was my favorite receiver from last year, as much as I loved Byrd and Doucet. But this kid has prototypical NFL wide receiver written all over him. So silky smooth, effortless, nice height and jumping ability, catches the ball away from his body, has really good speed, and is arguably the best blocking receiver in the nation. My projection is a top 10-15 pick, anywhere from 1st to 3rd highest projected receiver on the board come February. This is one projection I hope I am totally off base with. Well not really, cuz I wish the best for this young man, even if it means having to give him up.
I hear alot of Tigers names being thrown around in the 1st round projection conversation. From Herman Johnson and Ciron Black to Tyson Jackson, Demetrius Byrd and LaFell. I don't think that LaFell is quite there....but then again I didn't think that Buster Davis would be selected in the first round either. I do, however, think that Byrd is more of a 1st round prospect than LaFell. How many currrent LSU Tigers do you think will be projected to go in the 1st round?
Lafell is a better prospect than Byrd, and possibly by a decent margin. Love Byrd to death, but I think he is a 2nd rounder. Johnson = early to mid 1st round (his size is what is so attractive besides his talent) Black = late first rounder Lafell = mid first rounder Francois = mid to late first rounder Jackson = 2nd rounder Byrd = 2nd rounder Dickson = 3rd rounder (if he chooses to leave early) Beckwith = 3rd rounder Taylor = 4th rounder (possibly move up to a 3rd rounder)
He was really your favorite receiver last year? He had some outright horrific drops including basically throwing the ball into an Auburn DB's hands. He got better after that but there was a stretch where he literally could not catch anything. He's looked great so far this year.
I think he is very late 1st round or early second, their are some very talented receivers coming out in the next 2 years, it will be tough for him. But he has great talent as you mentioned.
lafell ( AKA lafumble) hes come a long way-- will stay another year-- the quarterbacks will be better, in turn making him look better and in turn making him command mo money, mo money, no whammies, STOP! i can understand why he could leave-- he has nothing left to accomplish-- but i think he'll stay-- look at the lsu defense guys that came back-- they figure if they have a better year in college AND get a degree ( imagine that) they can command more money when they do enter--- i guess jamracus is an exception, but he's not doing to good at oakland
Brandon Lafell HAS come a long way!!! He is simply playin with more confidence and he finally looks as if he belongs there... The LSU recruiters know what they are doing and they obviously saw that this kid could potentially be an elite reciever on an elite NCAA team and from the looks of it, he is well on his way to making them right:tigereye::crystal::crystal::tigereye:
