Limited scholarships. Sure, amazing depth at every position would be nice, but we must pick & chose the positions we recruit in each class to give our entire team the depth where we need it.

Actually, we have SIX DBs committed right now. The positions might change a little, but as they are currently listed: (S) Karnell Hatcher, Rocky Duplessis; (CB) Patrick Johnson, Brandon Taylor, Derek Bryant, Ryan St. Julien.

I agree that we probably need more DBs due to the proliferation of spread offenses, but that seems to me like a pretty good quota for one class. I will admit that I've seen nothing from our reserve CBs* to make me regret taking a bunch in this class, and hoping that PJ shows in the spring he meets the hype.

(*Granting that guys like Phelon Jones and John Williams didn't even see the field this year so I don't have anything to go on them. Eugene hasn't looked that great but he's very young and it's waaaay early in his career so he could certainly end up being a good one. Still, it would seem to be wide open for Patrick Johnson to step right in at one CB spot.)

I wish he were a little taller. I recall CParso saying 2 other recruits from the past were languishing because of their size. I think John Williams was one of the guys. I'm sure the preference is that corners be 6 ft or very close to it so they can defend the 6 ft 3, 6 ft 4, receivers that are becoming more prevalent.

I made the same point in another post, but if you have great cover skills and a good vertical you can make some ground up.

Re: Brandon Harris-Probably Will Get Him

as I said, that's my gut instinct.

this will be our signing day surprise, and final recruit #28

I hope we get an OLB, DT, OL and RB with the other 4 slots (McCray/Harris/Green,Thompson/Tillman,McLain/Jones/Sanders/Thomas,Dean/Thomas/Nelson, respectively).

Parso, said that we werent after Tillman, however, we did offer him a scholarship according to Scout.com

But as far as RB, goes we might get Thomas
and DE, Liuget said LSU is definitely in the mix.

Re: Brandon Harris-Probably Will Get Him

I would not put a lot of stock in scholarship offers listed by Scout. CParso has spoken about the difference between commitable offers etc., but I know from high school coaches that it is inaccurate. Darius Reynaud is a kid playing for West Virginia who is one of their primary receivers out of Hahnville. When he was a senior Scout listed him as having an offer from LSU. I asked one of their football coaches who I have known for years if he was going to LSU after I saw the offer on Scout. He told me LSU wasn't interested in him because he "didn't pass the eyeball test". He meant that they thought the kid was too small. He flat out said that the player never had an offer from LSU and wasn't getting one.

I agree with that, thanks for clearing that up.
