Look you can keep trying at this silly little game, but what I have said has been very clear for years. 4 series is a terribly small sample size. Ridicullously small. All you are trying to do is wordsmith your way to jack-off all over this thread. My criticism of the QB management have been well voiced. You know when Mett shit in his pants vs Ole Miss, I knew that even though he was having a bad game, he was our best option. Yea sure, you could have swapped him out. It wouldn't have mattered. In watching Jennings, seeing one of the worst passing performances in the country, I believed Harris deserved more PT. That does not mean pull your starter every 3 series. That does mean work your guys into the system slowly in low pressure situations. It is clear that you do not have the mental capacity to look past 3 series. You take your bad lumps AS EARLY as you can to better prepare for the future. Jennings is not the answer in any form. He is not any good and he is a handicap to this team when on the field. He does not posses the ability of his surrounding teammates required to compete in this league. He was a miss.
They play Kentucky which is why I am giving them at least 5 wins and they may be better and get 6 or 7 but don't see any better than that. I could be wrong and that's cool. I don't expect LSU to be mid season form tomorrow and don't expect a big blow out or anything, but if we struggle terribly and lose, we have some serious issues (and as a faithful fan, it is what it is). I understand we are young with a 1st year starter at QB....however, with all the talent we have across the board, and folks, we are LOADED...... it would be a real shame to have another down year starting with a loss to Moo U. At the end of the day, either way..........Geaux Tigers!!
Folks said the same of Lee. This is what the pumpers said of Harris last year. I'm not saying give Harris three series then use Jennings the rest of the way, I'm saying give Harris a break if he's struggling, bring him back in after a couple of series (unless Jennings gets things rolling, which you are certain won't happen). Sounds like we disagree, I'm just saying you sound a lot like miles, just with a different guy. I do think we'll agree that if we don't have a QB this year, cam has failed and miles can hit the bricks as well. If we suck at QB this year, miles sucks at QB and mett was a fluke. That would be a bummer.
I can see what you mean, but I think Harris needs to be struggling terribly for that to happen. I mean, like 2-16 with missed reads, sacks and interceptions. If he makes a few mistakes, but is playing ok, no big deal stay with him.
So, I thought Harris looked pretty good. Disappointed in the way he was used, I can't imagine it was good for his psyche. I read how the LSU coaches did the right thing by putting the ball in the hands of their best player, but I really don't think crashing your Ferrari through fences and foliage is the smartest move when you do have a steering wheel to avoid at least some of these obstacles. I feel like Miles panicked and was frozen with fear, letting go of the steering wheel, closing his eyes, and jamming on the breaks, hoping to stop before falling off the cliff. Granted, he won, but did we really need to ride fournette this hard against MooU? If this continues, he'll break down before getting to the NFL, or at least have lost a lot of tread. I imagine we're going to face stouter defenses - if they don't respect the pass then I'm not sure even fournette will be enough, even if he doesn't get hurt. And all that said, would we have won if Harris wasn't at QB? Of the few passes he made, many were passes that Jennings might have struggled with. I talked about bring Jennings in if Harris struggled, but I don't think that was needed last night. So, Miles burned rubber on his star rb, aka Saban. He totally clamped down on QB, which couldn't have benefitted the psyches of Harris, Jennings, or many many tiger fans. And his candy ass play calling almost snatched defeat out of victory. I've never felt worse after a win, which is saying something after 11 years of Les Miles.
In the second half: 6 attempts 2yds 3rd & 5, 1st drive, 1/1 9yds 3rd & 5, 2nd drive, 2/2 4yds 1st & 10, 3rd drive, 3/3 0yds 2nd & 6, 3rd drive, 4/4 X 3rd & 6, 3rd drive, 4/5 (QB hurry) X 3rd & 7, 5th drive, 4/6 1st drive 2:00 punt, 7yds, 14-3 2nd drive 3:22 TD, 75yds, 21-6 3rd drive 1:56 punt, 20yds, 21-6 4th drive, 2:05 punt, -1yds, 21-13 5th drive, 4:46 punt, 42yds, 21-13 6th drive, 2:23 punt, 17yds, 21-19 16:32 top
At the risk of offending someone(or everyone), I think Miles is aware of all of the criticisms offered here. It's been 10 years. He prefers to win this way as opposed to risking more. He is a low risk-low reward coach. We all know Harris has more in him, but Miles would say, "Why did I need to pass more? We won." He has a history of winning the close games by this method. I admit it drives me nuts, but I'll never fault him for winning uglily.
Thinking back on Mettenberger, how many awesome 3rd and long conversions did he have? Why? Because Les was doing the same shit with that QB. We are fricked.
Well said. Love the "crashing the ferrari into a fence, instead of using the steering wheel" analogy. Spot on.
