So. From DandyDon this morning: "Miles said Harris has little freedom to check things that they haven’t given to him and that he didn’t check much in the game. In other words, Miles implied that the plays that were run were the plays that were called, for the most part. (That contradicts what Brandon Harris reportedly said in this article.) He added that they would have liked to have been more balanced, but “frankly the game didn’t call for it.” So that whole Harris thing seems he was lying. Like most of us expected.
I wouldn't call it lying, I'd call it not throwing his coaches under the bus and should be seen as a positive step in his development.
He was protecting his coach from public criticism and trying to take a bullet. But we knew Harris wasn't changing the plays. And Miles' claim that "the game didn't call for (a more balanced offense)" just deepens my concern about the direction of this program. Is Les being stubborn just to spite the fans? Improbable but it sure seems like it.
He didn't lie. They told Harris he checked off too many times after the game. This is miles taking the heat and responsibility off Harris and on to him.
I believe this. It's funny to me that Miles way of taking the heat off of Harris is in turn making Harris seem like he lied. And Miles answer as to why he checked out of it and didn't run more passing plays makes him seem like an idiot. I'll be happy for this clusterfuck of a game week to be over.
I am sure Les told him around the same time he asked Harris to keep those details out of media interviews. Another note: Iam almost positive Harris does not have the freedom to check to passing plays either. Waiting to get confirmation on that.
