I think she's handling this much better than you are. LMAO. You staying at my crib this week? If so, let me know what you're hungry for.
First of all, LSU is NOT the only team that runs the I-formation. Did you notice Florida State winning a national championship game with it last year? Jimbo runs the I-formation a lot, just like Bobby Bowden did. Clemson, South Carolina, Michigan, Ohio State, Miami . . . lots of teams use the I-formation along with other formations . . . and so does LSU. And it's NOT the Power-I, it's the straight I-formation. The Power-I is a full-house backfield with two fullbacks. LSU ran the Power I under Cholly Mac. Usually they put one back in motion before the snap, but sometime they ran the power runs out of the full house back field.
I was waiting for the AU game to decide if we'd be decent this year, or if we really suck. I'm afraid we might not make it to bowl eligibility if we don't beat Florida on Saturday. At this point, I'm just happy that I will be busy curling hair and putting on make-up for both of my daughters for Saturday afternoon and evening's Plano Metropolitan Ballet fundraising gala. A semi-formal event that takes me away from football for a while is an unexpectedly welcome diversion. I am laughing at my parents, though. They will be going to Mandeville to watch the game at my cousin's 50th birthday party. My cousin and uncle are charter members of the "I hate Les Miles" Club. @shane0911 , shall I get you the address so you can join in the fun? I'm sure you'd like that side of my family very much.
It doesn't matter what you call it. For that matter it doesn't make a difference what formations they use. As long as the play calling is as bad and unimaginative as it is, it will result in failure. It's not the formation that's a failure, it's the philosophy.
I made that comment more in jest but it you want to use it to defend the coaches, it doesn't hold water as far as our coaching. That formation is used to set up play-action and is only effective if it accompanies some run/pass balance. When opponents drop down to 8 man fronts against it and you don't exploit that with the passing game, it's a death trap.
