At least Loomis is putting Jimmy Graham's money where his mouth is about spending the money he irresponsibly gave out on defensive help. I think they'll go D-line with the first round pick. I wouldn't be crushed if they could save money by cutting Junior Gallette's overpaid ass. I like him, but he vastly underperformed for his paycheck last year. Get an outside pass rush specialist who can get some pressure on the QB. That'll cure a lot of ills of the defense as a whole.

Who's supposed to be available at dline late first. Haven't followed the draft much just yet. But yeah that defense was inexplicably atrocious.

The entire D-line is overpaid. None of them played up to expectations. And they did restructure Gallette's deal. Not sure if they cut his pay or spreading the same amount of money for more years.

They won't really save any money by cutting Galette which is probably why they haven't done it yet. They'll be paying him not to play.

Didn't they basically do that last year?

I like the addition of Browner. If he can live up to the hype and shut his side of the field down 80 percent of the time that will allow Rob Ryan to get creative with the blitz.

They still have a lousy DL and a horrible group of LB'S.

Browner is more of a mauler than a good coverage CB. He molests receivers off the line and throws off the timing. He gets a lot of PI calls.

A pass rush covers up a lot of secondary weaknesses. And the 3-4 scheme that Ryan runs absolutely needs some skilled LBs, at least one of whom can pressure the pocket. Of course with the 2,357 picks the Saints have in the draft they should be able to get some skilled, young, cheap players.

As much as we hate to think or admit it, Loomis is showing us that we are in full on rebuilding mode. Enjoy the last year (maybe 2) of the Brees era. Fortunately, Anthony Jennings will be eligible for the draft soon so we can pick him up and take up right where Brees left off.

I guess Ellerbe is taking over for Lofton? I've heard his name, but don't know anything about him. If Lewis can get his head on straight and Byrd can stay on the field, that's a decent secondary with the addition of Browner. If we can shore up LB and get the D-Line to play like they did in 2013, it might be a Top 10 unit. Alot of 'IFs' though.
