Oklahoma, as in the Sooners network? No. About two or three years ago Bob Barry passed away. He was one of the icons of sports radio having handled play by play dating back to the Bud Wilkinson. When he retired he was replaced by his son who was replaced by a guy named Toby...can't remember his last name off the top of my head. Ross did call the first half of the Sugar Bowl this past season.
I may be wrong on this one shane. It sure seems like he handed the reigns over to his son but it didn't last long—maybe a year or two? Damn...going to have to look this up after awhile.
Idk you may be right. I know Jr took over as sports director at the TV station but don't recall him doing pbp for OU. Not that I ever listen. I remember the backlash when they hired Rowland and don't recall Jr being involved.
@shane0911 Took over as sports director! That's what I'm getting confused. Thx! There was an article or a series of articles, in-depth ones at that, I recall reading about a year, maybe more, ago that covered what Barry had done at OU, what Larry Munson had done with UGA, and a few others including Fergeson (sp?) at LSU, Forney at Bama, the guy for Notre Dame, and a few others. I've looked for it this afternoon and can't find it. I'm guessing it was in an industry magazine at work.
I know Sr. was highly regarded, hell they even had a thing on ESPN about him when he passed. Like I said, if I catch OU it will be on the screen and not the speakers but I didn't think Jr had done any time covering their games. Where I got confused was the time between when Sr. retired and when he died. I guess for some reason I forgot that he quit doing the games for some time before he actually passed away so they were able to hire Rowland with no gap in between.
