This is the biggest snake job ever. He told Davis to opt out to join him with the Clippers, so he does and signs with them. Now, he leaves. What is it with these Duke guys and backstabbing? Boozer did the same to the Cavs.
yeah, what Boozer did was pretty bad, I've never cared for him since then. I'd be interested to see what Davis has to say about this deal.
How about Redick demanding a trade earlier this year. I felt terrible for the promising Florida Flame NBDL franchise.
I don't see what was wrong with Boozer accepting $28M more than the Cavs were going to pay him. Paxson took a gamble and made him the biggest unrestricted FA in the league because he thought that Boozer wanted to be in Cleveland above all else and they could get off by getting him cheap. About 12 teams offered him big bucks after that and what did Paxson expect to happen? One of the biggest bonehead moves he has made IMO. Yea, that is something no professional athlete would ever do even though we see it all the time.
don't let that he is one of your favorite players flaw reality. what he did was cold blooded. trick the team into letting him out of his deal then moved on.
He really isn't one of my favorite players in the league but I do recall the sequence of events leading up to the signing with the Jazz. Boozer liked playing for the Cavs and was honest at the time but the comments about wanting to return were made to the media in the Cavs locker room right after the Cavs told him why they wanted him to be a unrestricted FA and I am sure he felt the love. This is something we have seen all pro athletes say before leaving after finding out that his value is way more than what the Cavs wanted to pay him. Boozer would have been a complete moron to take $28M less and possibly get hurt and have his value plummet in future negotiaitions. Paxson was making moves to save his job at the time and took a very risky gamble based on media comments that Paxson even admitted to and also said he should have had more one on one with Boozer before making such a rash decision. To save face and his job Paxson reported to the media that he is just a liar. Well what would almost every player do in that situation? Stay with a team where the GM is fighting for his life and making boneheaded moves or go make what he is worth before it is too late and a better chance to contend for a championship consistently? Paxson could have matched the offer if he would have hedged his bets with the cap space as well but that is another example of poor management. This is very common in all pro sports and this one happened to be covered the most at the time because Paxson was struggling and Boozer was made the biggest FA in the league.
I hope the Hornets aren't satisfied with their roster seriously..first they gave away their only pick when they could've filled one of their needs with a Darrell Arthur, CDR amongst others at a rookie salary...now I guess they believe their roster is set when everyone else is improving.
They definitely are making a run at someone. No way they would have worked to clear cap space if they weren't going to.
I starting to think Shinn is satisfied and doesnt want to spend money and think he's still going to get a sell out next year but they aren't the Saints, and ppl may stop coming.
