That's because since he's been here, he recruits mostly athletes and not basketball players....When's the last time he had a good true point guard or a shooter??? His teams depend on the athletic ability of his players, for example Stromile Swift, Ronald Dupree, Tyrus Thomas, Anthony Randolph, Chris Johnson....These are all terrific athletes and will put up good numbers, but when you have players like these, you need to surround them with good shooters and good ball handlers.

Fully agree with you. In a case of getting what I asked for (and not in a good way) I complained about Dale Brown lacking the athletic players Bama had under Wimp. Wimp always had 6'8 guys who could run and jump but not any great shooters. Now we have athletes but nobody who can shoot...or rebound. It's a tough situation when, like you said, nobody can dribble or shoot. That would be a tough team for Wooden to coach.

But I'm sure Wooden would have found a point guard by his 11th year.

the problem is that there are only 2 SEC programs doing that--UK and UF. and one with tons of money and the best facilities and they cant do it--Ark.

so, you'd be a good coach and a good player---better shooter than CTIII, DMitch.

I've seen great shooters and CTIII and D Mitch weren't great shooters IMO. They hit big shots but like I said, just because somebody shoots the ball doesn't make them a great shooter. For my money, Redden, CJ of course, Blanton, Maurice Williamson, Howard Carter of course, Derrick Taylor.....were better shooters. I've watched some old games with Wayne Simms lately.....the guy was deadly from 15 feet. I can't say that about any player Brady has signed. A couple of those from the list were great, epic shooters.

And I had a smile while writing I was a good shooter. But at 18 I could put it in the hole from time to time. Given 2 weeks with Brady screaming at me, I don't know though.

So you think CTIII and Mitch were great shooters?

Now that brought up recruiting, I find how Brady recruits interesting as well. Several times during his tenure he has had players that form a good core of a team. Like this team, there is what I believe will be a good core of players to build on.

But I don't see Brady recruiting with any ability at all to plan or have a strategy. Coaches know what you need to field a basketball team. But no matter what the season, he is always lacking something.

It's as if Brady and Butch get a recruiting magazine and look at the top prospects from the area and see about getting those guys regardless of their role. I know he tried to get DJ Augustine from NO and he went to Texas so we had no PG. But other teams are recruiting for a PG too and when they don't get the one they want, they don't field a team of 4 centers/forwards and make a guard who isn't the best ball-handler play PG like we do.

There's no rule about not signing 2 PG's. That's like LSU football recruiting a top QB....we don't get him so LaFell has to play QB this year. But that's what has happened in basketball.

honestly, would have to see the #s. by recollection, yes. especially CTIII. i would be surprised if williamson ever hit 50% in a season. and chris johnson has pretty good #s so far.

i agree with you here. if i were to call for his head, it would be for this reason (although this reason in irrevocably intertwined with recruiting guys that cant handle his abrasive style).

Personally, I kinda surprised he's able to recruit the guys he has over the years.

Williamson was streaky....sort of like Caesar or Henderson.
