I'm still intrigued why LSU recruited another punter last year. Is he in danger of being kicked off the team? Is he missing classes or not living up to the team rules? is he in danger grade wise???

    Any body hear anything?

Wing is already 21, and he will go pro if he has another great year.

Les kicked him off the team because he screwed up that touchdown last year. ;)

That's what I'm thinking. He may be putting himself ahead of the team and may be in danger of being cut. I mean....Why didn't Miles wait till next year to recruit a punter? I think he's there not just to be a backup for a year or two and waste eligibility. Maybe Miles thinks we need another starter now...

Wing is a candidate to go pro early. That is all.

No (lol)......I'm really smelling smoke and was wondering if anyone else heard something.

and it doesn't make sense to have two punters....even though one may redshirt....taking up a spot on the 85 limit.

It makes since to have at least 2 for every position.

I'm glad you took the post in the manner it was intended.

I can think of at least two other reasons to keep two punters, than the one already referred to: 1) especially if the "other" kicker has a radically different style, give them the same number (IIRC that can be done as long as they're not on the field at the same time) in an effort to confuse opposing punt return teams; and 2) given that the Kickin' Koala isn't a traditional punter and that the Mad Hatter isn't a traditional coach, there's a fair chance we'll see something like the Florida Fake-out at least once again. While not wanting to cast any bad mojo onto Wing, it's always dangerous when you take off with the ball and, Heaven forbid, he could get hurt. If the unthinkable happens, it would pay to have a back-up on the roster for the rest of the game. (Or hell, even if he just pulls a hammie booming one, for that matter.)
