I agree and have been feeling this would have a huge impact on the outcome, and in our favor. We don't want to score too quickly. A long drive now and then gives the defense some time off of their feet.
This is a good point. If they do manage to pin us deep, we'll just have to drive the distance. :thumb:
i was talking about this with someone the other day. the couple of years previous to this one, our d was on the field all the time cause our o was turning over the ball so much. now it's because they sometimes score so quickly. what a change! thank you krags and stud!
Yes, what a different game we're getting treated to. Our great separator, depth, is what makes it go and why the quick strikes don't negatively affect us, I guess.
LSU is #8 in the nation in time of possession at 33:52/game. Alabama is 17th at 32:43/game. Compare that to just a year ago when we were 57th in the nation, barely winning TOP at 30:10/game.
Our defense is such an OFFENSE those times don't mean much imo. Vs Auburn I'd just said I wanted to break 40 and even though Miles may take his foot off the gase our defense would not be able to "not play" and would chip in some points. Low and behold, 2 plays after Brooks got his pic 6. I was nutts screaming, "WHAT I SAID!?!?"
Haha! :thumb: Really, though, all I was trying to show was that even though we sometimes score quickly, only 7 defenses in the country are on the field less than ours, and none of those are in the SEC.
